I read a few articles early in on the quarantine saying that online traffic (gun sales, TP, even online subscriptions) had spiked in first few weeks.

Has this kept up? I'd suspect it would have died down a little once people stopped getting paychecks and/or already stocked up on enough ammo and food supplies.

Our portfolio traffic dropped slightly in February and March but looks to be picking back up.

Oh MAN I remember those days! I am white as driven snow so I would avoid the #6 and instead take the crosstown bus to Lexington then up to e.116th Street where I scored my weed. LOL Always went in the sunny afternoon but e.116th Street in Spanish Harlem looked like a burned out Hollywood movie set with buildings boarded up, vacant lots....scary.

Check it: I used to go into this completely dark as night blackened out "store". The only visible light was a coke machine in the corner. You kept walking until your nose hit plexi glass like with bank tellers. Probably bullet proof. A little drawer popped out, in went $20, out came the fattest bag of weed you ever saw! Looked wholesale, where the dealers went before selling it downtown to white boys like me. "Buy a soda" a mysterious voice called from the dark. I did and got the HELL outta there! LOL I'm white and the rule was - never go above 96th! We all had stories about the "one time the train went express and I had to go to 125th" you get the sinking feeling in your stomach, then, "I have to act tough, and like I know where I'm going, black people respect people who look confident" LOL then you tell stories about it for weeks. The 1/9 was my train.

I can only speak on the east side, majority of the tenements were abandoned. Realtors scooped them up and built them cheap ass slab buildings on the empty lots and let yuppies flood in. The projects are still the projects tho.

I like how it turned out honestly. It's a mix of everybody living together now, no matter the race or tax bracket. And it's safer than it's ever been. It backfired on the original gentrification plan, in a good way.

I didn't really deal with the west side (Clinton's side) too much. Can't speak too much about it other than I use to frequent the Allah school in mecca as a teen.

After that e.116th & Lexington Ave place I found a store on w.125th Street and went there until it got raided. LOL Ahh good times! You used to walk in, ask to use the bathroom, then a secret door what open next to the sink and you would put your money in and the weed would come out in little glass jars. It was so James Bond! Crazy.

I should check out the east side (Spanish Harlem). It's been years since I've been up that way. Being a mix sounds like a cool area now.

It's nice now, mostly.

It ain't perfect, but they are all pretty much coexisting. 99% of the riff Raff that does occur is personal, so if you're not involved you have no worries.

None of those trap door spots anymore. I have stories for days about those tho, east Harlem and the bronx. We had slot machines in the bodega attached to my building that would give you a choice between a $3, $5 or $20 bag of whatever just flew in from Jamaica back in the shower pose days.

In East Harlem that all transitioned into secret door to door "party favor" services in the early 2000's and now it's kinda weird. Since the white folks moved in the cops stopped harassing as much so drugs feel more prevalent and open again minus the crack. Just a lot less violence because everybody is the plug these days.

There's a garden store up there under the bridge, it has goats, chickens, etc, and garden supplies. It's around 115 and Park. When I shopped up there I knew things had changed. Funny how with all the massive wealth of Manhattan, it still doesn't penetrate the projects. The 63rd street projects right behind the Met, people will go the extra 10 blocks around at night.

1- South Korea is experiencing reinfection.. Plus they lie about their numbers.

2- Sweden is extremely controversial with their testing methods due to the fact of overwhelming their health care system.

Sweden has 10 million people living in that entire country... AS New York has 8.3 million residence and New Jersey has 8.8 million people.

Right now, we need to work together to get through this. Best bet may to improve testing, and then make it more available, and develop more effective treatments to minimize hospitalizations - especially ICU admissions: at least reduce need for intubulation / ventilation.

Why not? We have a 100% working vaccine against Polio (made in the USSR BTW), a vaccine against Measles, Hepatitis B, Mumps, Rubella and even Varicella. All of them work fine. And even anti-flu vaccines work well for specific types (not in 100% cases, but still very well).

Unless you want to repeat it every 6-12 months, which makes sense for you? more harm than the actual illness.
same with sars-cov-2, or even worse. it already has few strains, plus it is more difficult to make vaccine for corona-type viruses. nobody did it actually before...

Dude, no one is even sure if antibodies prevent you from getting re-infected. No one is really focusing on that because OH SHIT. But that's the case. We simply do not know why some people get it, some get it worse than others, some die while others do not, if you are truly "immune" once you have it, how long it can stay dormant in your system without knowing you have it, on and on.

This shit is brand-new it has everyone scrambling.

The only thing I miss, btw, are the whores. Everything else is basically the same around here (for me).

all while Jamaicans working on cruise ships have been denied entry to their own home nation for weeks

so to sum it up the economy is at a standstill, a huge parish vital to the Kingston economy was under quarantine for 2 weeks, at least 80% of my friends are out of work (tourism, events, bar workers, home helpers) and all because the gov was afraid to stand up to an international corp that does not give a fuck about this nation or its people

we're all making the best of it and people are for the most part trying to help by being responsible, wearing masks and following the 6pm curfew but damn. it did not have to be this way

money and power always win. this place is changing but not fucking fast enough

Coronavirus is something we and our pets live for thousands years. There is no problem to make your immune system to resist. Some renowned epidemiologists are saying that this will not end until the virus has run its course, and infected between 60 to 80% of the population. And, if no vaccine, COVID-19 will likely become a seasonal pandemic like influenza. We can play the blame game (including playing race cards), but this will get us nowhere fast. Right now, we need to work together to get through this. Realtors scooped them up and built them cheap ass slab buildings on the empty lots and let yuppies flood in. The projects are still the projects tho. I like how it turned out honestly. It's a mix of everybody living together now, no matter the race or tax bracket. And it's safer than it's ever been. It backfired on the original gentrification plan, in a good way. I didn't really deal with the west side (Clinton's side) too much. Can't speak too much about it other than I use to frequent the Allah school in mecca as a teen.

It ain't perfect, but they are all pretty much coexisting. 99% of the riff Raff that does occur is personal, so if you're not involved you have no worries. None of those trap door spots anymore. I have stories for days about those tho, east Harlem and the bronx. We had slot machines in the bodega attached to my building that would give you a choice between a $3, $5 or $20 bag of whatever just flew in from Jamaica back in the shower pose days. In East Harlem that all transitioned into secret door to door "party favor" services in the early 2000's and now it's kinda weird. Since the white folks moved in the cops stopped harassing as much so drugs feel more prevalent and open again minus the crack. Just a lot less violence because everybody is the plug these days.

JesseQuinn feeding the wolves Industry Role: Join Date: Aug 2012 Location: between sand and stars in Jamaica Posts: 5,371	I'm pretty furious with my government right now (I can call it mine as I'm now a citizen) Jamaica started off with one of the best responses in the region to the outbreak (I was giving them serious props at first) and promptly went downhill. first by not closing the borders quickly enough (on this I do understand hindsight is 20/20) and then by allowing a BPO to continue operating under unsafe conditions even as workers were speaking out about the unsafe conditions workers at the BPO were in close quarters, with no proper cleaning or safety equipment like masks and as a result the infection rate doubled almost overnight. half the infections nation-wide now are either people who worked at Alorica (the BPO) or were in contact with someone who does then as the cherry on top they allowed a rich expat from Turks (I used to live there as well, the expats are entitled pieces of shit) to fly in for medical care, resulting in the head of surgery at one of the biggest hospitals here ending up in quarantine as the dude from Turks was infected with the virus all while Jamaicans working on cruise ships have been denied entry to their own home nation for weeks so to sum it up the economy is at a standstill, a huge parish vital to the Kingston economy was under quarantine for 2 weeks, at least 80% of my friends are out of work (tourism, events, bar workers, home helpers) and all because the gov was afraid to stand up to an international corp that does not give a fuck about this nation or its people we're all making the best of it and people are for the most part trying to help by being responsible, wearing masks and following the 6pm curfew but damn. it did not have to be this way money and power always win. this place is changing but not fucking fast enough </end rant> __________________ throwing molotav cocktails at the precinct
