Exactly - it's a marketing gimmick. A good one at that!

I'd be interested to know the backlash of existing premium members who may cancel, take-up the free month, then try to lock-in a lower rate.

PH must have run the numbers - that the expected churn rate will be less than the uplift i revenue from new members.

For others reference- I wasn't asked to input any CC on signup.

We all know very well what they do. Nobody is doubting this. The problem is they use the content of other's for their own promo. They have nothing to lose, they can only profit from this.

They fuck with producers that pump their premium program with exclusive content while doing what you mentioned - harvest emails, gain popularity and possible new members that go from free to paid. ...all this while exposing the valuable content producers offered for their PAID section (to get PAID for that) to millions of free loaders and cheap asses.

No compensation for this since these free users (if they don't renew) lower the rate paid to producers.

They did not ask for a credit card. Apparently there is a verification email that will go out and maybe that request a credit card number but they say that that email may take awhile to get to you and they give you access right away
