Fake Rolex Watches

I bought a watch online last week and suddenly I see nothing but watches on Facebook ads. I clicked on what is obviously a fake Rolex watch ad and now I seeing tons of fake Rolex ads.

How in the world do these companies get away with selling fake Rolex watches on line?

The real question: how does a supposed professional webmaster question and fall for click bait ad tactics? Hmmm....LOL

I find the ads on Facebook and other sites rather interesting. You buy something online and suddenly you are flooded with ads for similar items. I bought a gift for a friend one time and suddenly everyone thinks I am interested in what I bought when I actually wasn't.

This happens to me all the time. I bought a Rad electric bike last fall and now still, I see ads everywhere for a bike I just bought. Seems like a waste of advertising to me. Why preach to the choir?

Wait until Rochard finds out that he can just have the facebook app open on the phone and then mention he's thinking about buying something, and then see ads for it without even searching for it.

All right big boy... I understand how ads work. Blah blah blah I can go search on Google for computer speakers and moments later I'll be seeing ads on Facebook and every other site for computer speakers. I've been working online for twenty years now; I understand how the ads work.

My question is... How in the world do get away with making knock off Rolexes for $40?

Same way big tube sites get away with theft and copyright infringement.

Indifference. Cut off the snake's head and it re-grows two more.

Authorities will say they have bigger fish to fry. Likely not worth their time, effort and investigative resources to chase bogus companies that appear and evaporate constantly.

Several years ago I wrote an article about fake Rolex watches for a local newspaper. Here is how they exist. In the US it is not illegal to buy a fake Rolex (or any fake watch for that matter) but it is illegal to sell one. In many states owning more than one fake watch can be illegal because they consider that an intent to sell. So these companies mostly set up offshore in countries where it is not illegal to sell them. They also often market them as "replica" watches which are in a grey area in many countries.

Reading comprehension totally escapes you. I said nothing about performing a search for anything, on any platform.

That's the answer I was looking for... I guessed these companies were all off shore.

And I guess Facebook doesn't check to see if there is anything illegal; They have so many ads flying through their system they can't check them all.

Facebook most certainly doesn't check or care about the ads. Not too long ago I saw an ad for a company selling "refurbished" laptops for next to nothing. These were laptops that normally sell for $1000+ and other places have as used or refurbished for $600+ and this site was selling them for $50. The comments for the ad were filled with people saying it was a scam and even saying how they had been ripped off by the scam. That ad showed up often for a few weeks.

Skagen watches are nice. I've not seen any watches thinner than theirs.

Yeap, I saw a $99 PS4 Pro ad and reported it after seeing reviews of the site.

Really easy to buy ads on facebook. I don't think facebook vets them.

I have been seeing google ads lately for fuel filters (actually suppressors). But I think that is an ATF setup.

The supposed 'smart targeted' advertising is just dumb and often a huge waste of $$$
For a few years now, I often see ads for the exact thing that I purchased the day before for weeks.
Its probably why I never buy traffic or use ad networks seeing what a waste it is.

People who buy fake Rolex watches know what they are buying, but they hope others don't. I guess...
