Geo, offer and traffic source selection

I chose ZA as targeted geo and popunder as selected ad format - it has a great CR on adult offers. It’s quite easy to find a decent offer at any ad network using filters. In our case, we have a DOI offer, where approved registration is considered as a conversion. The advertiser pays $1.6 per conversion.

The strategy

Before the campaign launch, I strongly advise having a chat with your personal manager to get some targeting hints. Besides, the “presumable outcome calculation” option might be quite useful in this case. It helps to predict liable campaign results for each geo up to the conversion amount for each bid. Don't forget that 1st impression always goes to the highest bid.

I decided to set a $0.8 bid for Wi-Fi traffic (it was the offer’s requirement).
It’s extremely important to get at least 2nd or 3rd impression because due to endless pops rotation you might get down and will not receive desired clicks.

Prelands

There are endless amounts of adult prelands. I recommend you to use two or three in rotation, one of them in English, the other one in the native language of the targeted country.

According to my experience, trivia-like prelands with beautiful fit girls work out the best. This kind of prelands presumes diversity - the users choose the girls according to their preferences, and later on, you will have a clear vision on further preland design - what works good, and what should be replaced or removed completely.

Avoid shock content since it is prohibited by a lot of both websites and advertisers, besides, remember, the majority prefers good old classics
In my case following prelands had been selected:







Choosing prelands I relied on my preferences. If you’re not ready to do that - just check someone else’s pops to see the most popular prelands and use it as an inspiration.
Remember, if sounds and alerts are incorporated into prelands, the chance to get conversion is higher.

Above all, I’ve purchased the domain with the name almost identical to the casino's site. It also helped me to avoid mistrust and increase CR. Never purchase domains with messy names, it is very important! Don’t forget to check Adheart for the most recent prelands. It costs a penny and would help you to find your way in the sea of prelands.

Optimization

Step 1. Bid increase

Pops imps often go down. If you see it - rise a bid a bit, it would help you to overbid the competitors. It’s often enough to raise it for $0.1, take baby steps, and don’t splash your money. The statistics will help you to determine further dynamics.

Step 2. Placements blacklist

In the case of pops, it’s very important to blacklist placements with low performance. I ban ISP of the most popular bot sources right from the start. Remember, pops suffer the most from bot and fraud.

Step 3. Prelands replacement

In case of datings, you need to work hard with prelands. The key to success is your close attention and experiments. I’ve made changes 5 times for the two prelands I used in rotation.

Step 4. Losing targeting

This step depends on targetings set at the stage of campaign creation. I overplayed myself setting OS targeting at the very beginning. The settings directly depend on geo. Don’t set a narrow targeting - you may miss a huge amount of relevant traffic.

Post-optimisation

Eventually we have the following targeting: all OS, adult+mainstream, English and native language for the geo set, all carriers+WiFi, all browsers.

Conclusion

I enjoyed working with Adsterra adult traffic - got a great amount of traffic in a short time, a lot of support, tips, and hints from managers, and was pleased by eventual income

Geo and traffic source selection

Based on the results of my previous cases and campaigns, I have chosen popunder. Geo was taken based on the offer that was placed on an affiliate network, namely DE.
Offer selection
I have chosen a DOI Dating offer for DE with a $3.8 payout for each approved registration. The offer is mobile, and competition is high, it sounds like a challenge!

Strategy

Unfortunately, Europe is a fairly payable and highly competitive region, so we need to invent some workarounds to push in a new offer into an oversaturated market.
In my case, I decided to run a campaign with a high bid, to get, if not the first, then at least the second or third impression. That sounds risky, but anyway, you will get your traffic and your conversions, but in a smaller amount.
I decided to set the bid at $2.25

Pre-landers

While choosing pre-landers, first of all, I proceeded from the conditions set by the affiliate program. You cannot use misleading creatives in this campaign, so you have to choose very soft solutions, so it doesn't turn out like this, that you have been sitting all day long choosing beautiful creatives, and as a result, the campaign was stopped due to violations of the conditions on the site request.

In such cases, I usually recommend choosing pre-landers with questionnaires that don't say that you are guaranteed to find yourself a couple for a night, love of all your life, etc.
Try to make such a questionnaire, that will attract users to give information about their preferences, so that in future, you can correct pre-landers.

In my case, the following pre-landers were chosen:





If you are not ready to make pre-landers yourself - welcome to Adheart! There you can find actual ones for any geo and politely borrow them
I remind you that it is important to make a constant rotation of pre-landers. The results of the questionnaires can help you with this. This way, you can quickly learn what your audience is interested in on this or that Geo and then simply change pictures, text, or even the pre-landers' whole content. The quality and amount of conversions directly depends on this.

Optimization

Stage 1 (pre-landers replacement)

As I said before - your campaign gonna be successful if you control it, especially in terms of creatives. It's important to understand that changing creatives too often can also carry a threat. You may not have enough time to get those converting users who really like your pre-lander. Therefore, you should do everything in moderation, wait some days, change, wait again, and so on, until you find the perfect option for this or that offer.

Stage 2 (Placement blacklisting)

As with any other campaign, you must set the blacklist. In my experience, cheating platforms are less common in adult campaigns, but this doesn't mean that you don't need to remove unnecessary placements, which don't give any conversions. If you see zero - you can remove this placement, I don't think that there can be at least one conversion on that.

Post optimization

We are choosing default settings. You can make no changes besides adding English, in addition to German. It is important not to pinch targeting too hard for DOI; otherwise, you can lose a large piece of traffic.

Conclusion

To be honest, that was quite a risky and challenging campaign. I had some difficulties with campaign settings because I underestimated bids for Europe and spent a couple of days determining the perfect bid. As you can see, you can work even with difficult Geo’s, if you follow the plan and action order.

I advise you to try adult yourself on a small budget, and I think you will like it!
