Adsterra Banner And Popunder Has Redirect Virus Android Users

Just found out this morning, one of their advertisers install redirect virus download page to domain (macarte dot site...) on Adsterra banner and popunder code. Site will immediately redict to the notificuation page and ask u to download the app on Playstore . It only affects android browsers. Immediately removed them before Google finds out and ban my sites like Plugrush in the past.

Anyone with them should check ur sites for their codes.

Is it a virus or an extremely aggressive app install sales funnel? Is the app a virus? Play Store lists apps with viruses?

I had good things to say about adsterra but this virus ad stuff happens a lot with them.
They need to ban these malicious advertisers instead of constantly just telling us to
give them a screen capture.

I uninstalled their script because they drive away visitors to your site and give you a
bad reputation as a malicious site.

So like you I'm looking for a new ad network.

Its a auto redirect to a notification page click yes or no with notice that ur android device is detected with virus in the storage space. After u click yes it leads to playstore and download the app. Didn't try to download.

I was with them for 2 years never had a problem, check my site everyday with desktop, iphone and android, no problem, just did the same routine visit today and immediately redirect me to the problem page I mention above. Dont wanna risk it as google detects this kind of stuff pretty fast nowadays. So I remove all their scripts for now and using a new platform.

So it's an extremely aggressive sales funnel, or "fake virus" lander; not an actual virus. Just wanted to clear that up.

But yeah, pretty good way to drive visitors away.

I've had that one too

But I've also been getting an ad with a giant 'X' that covered the entire site. There was no way to close
the 'X' except to click on it.

It's fake but the average visitor doesn't know that.

It is actually sad to hear people leaving from Adsterra, but I believe that some clarifications and explanations are needed.

1. That ad you had falls under “Software ads” category. They tend to be very aggressive, that’s just how they are. There are no viruses, malwertising, adware, ransomware or anything like that, I can assure you. And you can actually turn off this kind of ads when requesting ad codes.

2. However, that does not explain the redirect issue that you encountered. We do not condone the auto-redirect ads, but they tend to slip through.

3. And that is why we sometimes need your help to react to them! I already reported that ad to our managers, so they can review it thoroughly and ban it, if they deem necessary. And we are always asking our publishers to contact us, if any problem with redirect arises, just so we can react to it faster.

It is sad to see you go, sorry for the inconvenience

It’s been an honor, gentlemen о7

Never said it's necessary to leave adsterra as it's not the platform intention to have this kind of problem. It's just the advertisers. As long as these redirect r removed then it's safe to use. At the end of da day just dont wanna get banned by Google because of redirect. Other then this I don't care how aggressive the ads r basically.

I removed the software ads weeks ago and still they keep appearing.

Perhaps it's a glitch in your system or perhaps you've got some advertisers that do not play by
the rules.

Alright, that's great to hear!

Can you send us your login/email, so we can further investigate the issue with this particular advertiser?
___________

Meanwhile, Hamilton Steele, I sent your website to our Partner Care dep so things like that wouldn't happen again. Sorry for all the troubles you had with our ads

Worst part of this malware and redirect stuff is that if you remove them your cpm rates will drop to something around 0.00001 or even 0.
this happened for me. i asked to remove any malware and redirect ad from my widgets and then my pop cpm dropped from $3.6 to 0.4.

I decided to give Adsterra another chance. Perhaps this will be a wake up call as to what these
software advertisers are doing.

That is an accurate market value for pops with and without aggressive ads.

Can you share here how your cpm rates are now? (after removing malware and redirect ads from your widgets)

I don't like this market value for my 80+% usa traffic on a popular niche.

CTR on pops is less than 3%. If your site is "high quality" you're better off just not having them.
