Namecheap gives you up to 30 days after the domain has expired (their grace period) without any extra fees, or at least it was like that last time I forgot to renew in time.
Alternatively, Cloudflare has great pricing on domains. WG

Additionally at most/all registrars there's a 30 day redemption period after the grace period where, assuming it hasn't been passed to an auction and sold, you can pay around $100 to recover the name. If it isn't worth that, it wasn't worth renewing anyway. In addition to that Namecheap will email you 30 days before a name expires. Then they email you 15 days before the name expires. Then they email you 7 days before the name expires. Then they email you 24 hours before the name expires. Then the name expires and your site doesn't work any more. If that isn't a big enough clue, they then email you for the fifth time a few days after it has expired. I mean Namecheap is shit, for many reasons (and so is Namesilo), but people have take some responsibility. If you're not reading your email and you don't notice your site is down for a month, then you couldn't have thought the name was that important to begin with.

This is why you always add funds to your account in case the card has issues.

To avoid situations like this happening. Always have backups: money on account and if you suddenly forget, card to charge, and a third level as well if they offer it. It's an insurance policy against potentially losing your domain names and your business.

Domains
Namecheap lists .com at 8.98. I'm currently paying 9.95 on Namesilo.
It's not a big difference. And it's worth it for the pain in the ass factor. Every dealing with them is horrendous. Namesilo is pretty easy to deal with. |

Actually I just looked and I am paying 9.55 now. Again, not enough of a difference to worry about.
I stopped chasing the lowest cost solutions years ago. Quality is much more important. |

This might have sense if you have a project which require registration of many new domains, otherwise dont see point to bother with it. |

In addition, when you login they send you a 2FA code. It usually never comes or comes an hour later. I tried to take off 2FA, but couldn't. Oh and this is the worst part, when you try to send a support request about having issues logging in they ask you to login! I just gave up. Not worth the effort anymore. |

Even with the coupon they have higher renewals.
They have issues (not being cheap being one), but the complaint about support (and 2FA) is nonsense. They have live chat that responds immediately and they speak fine English.
