Porn paysites are not getting sales as they are still having a 2005 mindset

One problem for those who have set sites up in 2001 is that they are 22 years out of date, yet they are still doing what they did in 2001.

For instance, many sites rely far too much on affiliates (yet have next to no affiliate tools).

A little per peeve for me is sites with no fhg's. If you do not want to host fhg's at least provide them as a download, for us to host ourselves.

That said, I see sites still having a mindset from years ago.

For instance, many still see getting in top ranks in google as the big deal. In my mind, it is not worth the grief.

To me sites should not rely on affiliates, but see them as a bonus way to get a few extra sales.

To me the number one way to get sales is social media.

And I do not mean posting a few pics on twitter (so lazy).

Last year I was speaking to someone who ran a site with his girlfriend. They were getting two sales a month. He said he was going to quit, but we chatted. He offered me £1000 (he is in the UK) to help get him sales. So I told him a simple trick to do with social media. He now gets at least ten sales a day.

Part of it, is you need to be creative.

But a small tip for free is forget everything you know about promoting porn. And imagine if you had just started today.

In many ways, someone starting today with a porn site, has more chance of success because he or she has not got the baggage of all the old ways (that are often out of date).


Often the reason people get few sales today is a bit like those who made money making porn magazines or porn VHS. Most found it hard to sell online as they were still having the mindset of selling magazines or VHS.

Today many do not sell because they have the mindset of 2001.

Another tip is, what you find works today to get you sales, in ten years may also be out of date.

But come on, if you have an affiliate site, why do you not have at least one single fhg?

yes social is useful, tubes are useful, fhgs - maybe i guess, email, etc etc. there are many active site owners watching reports, trying new things, adjusting and growing.

maybe some of the old brands are stagnating, but the owners likely lost interest in the day-to-day hassle of growth marketing. they make good residuals with no effort.

forgetting everything that has happened over the last 20 years is bad advice. we went full circle - from paysite demand to pirate tubes in demand and now back to paysites (fueled by OF). those middle years were a hard struggle. many sites went out of business. a majority of those sites who survived are working hard today.

there's also a lot of new players on the field today. i've got a few site owners growing really fast and some older shops trying to adapt. everybody wants an OF knockoff too lol

the industry is doing fine. maybe the OP needs to actually be IN the industry to make a better judgement?
