So, I'm a refugee now :)

So, after more than 20 years in adult business I lost everything

One Russian missile freed me up of my own apartment in Ukraine and a car.
But I was lucky enough - my backpack with laptop and DSLR camera was not destroyed, so I'm still able to work

Guys it is not a scam or fundraiser. I'm not asking for the donations.
(But if you really want to send me few bucks - I'll not be an asshole and will appreciate it )

I'm open to any offers and ready to relocate to country that accept Ukrainians. Currently I'm in Poland.

I'll be happy to work as photographer/videographer/retoucher. Also I can provide all kinds of design work.

So if you, or some of your friends need someone experienced and versatile - hit me up and get +500% to your karma.

Get yourself over to the UK, by hook or by crook. You'll be set for life - Free Housing, Free Healthcare, Free Money to live on etc etc etc...

No one EVER gets kicked out. Plus, if you choose to stay in a big city like London, you'll find a HUGE community of people from your exact place of origin, who will have similar interests, and speak the same language...

Seriously.

From the post, these words stood out. Only if you a young female, as I "pray" on the lost souls.

All sarcasm aside, CS is correct. While Poland is great, UK is better work wise.

This happened to a friend of mine (no names mentioned). I believe in the first round of fighting years ago. Their place was destroyed. Him and his wife went on the road and they've been staying six months at a time in different countries or whatever. They even had a kid born while on the road.

Update. On the phone your footer does not appear. When revisiting GFY on the Chrome laptop, I see your web link, but for an unknown reason, the mainstream and adult web design images are not loading/displaying.

Actually, I was in the European Union a week earlier before the start of the war (just a coincidence, I was on a business trip) and now I'm stuck here. Naturally, I did not expect this in any way and did not prepare, I did not take cash, clothes, etc. with me.

To be honest, he wouldn't even need to work if he came here. Its beyond belief, but the FACTS are that people who arrive here illegally, regardless of claiming asylum or not, get more money, more benefits and better housing than people who were born here, to English parents get, when they are down on their luck...

As a UK citizen, I dont feel that it should be that way, but whether I like it or not, that IS what is happening at the moment in the UK...

So come on over... The more the merrier I guess. It seems to be what those in power seem to want, and that's just how it is...

Yes, this sounds good but can we stay here and work online, freelance or for some company in other country?

If you made a typo and meant to say 'can we stay THERE and work online' then the answer is yes, absolutely. You just 'disappear' into your community of choice and do whatever the hell you want - Legal or illegal - No one seems to give a fuck or do anything about it...

Again, I'm just being honest. Its not my job to 'Police' who comes into my country, and what they do here. Its the Governments... And, the reality is they dont seem to give a fuck, so why should I?

There was a documentary on BBC once, about these huge foreign community's within London and the surrounding areas. They asked a couple of newly arrived people what it was like to be in London, and unable to even speak English They just laughed and said it was great ! That no one around them spoke English anyway, so who cares?

Google 'Dingy Divers' - Its a reference to those who just rock up from across the channel, from Calais in France, in tiny little boats. Hundreds at a time... They get picked up by our 'Border Force' but instead of being turned round and taken back to France, they get brought to England, bought Pizza to eat from a national fast food chain, put up in 4 / 5 star hotels and put on the waiting list for housing...

It sounds unbelievable, but its 100% true... Read the following and watch the video - That was last year... Its got more and more and more since then, and its still going strong... Like I say, the Government seem to allow it - So why not take advantage? Its no skin off my nose !

Home Office spent £6,700 on Domino’s pizzas to feed migrants arriving in UK in one month

I am happy you are alive and got away.

I travel around the world for 12 years with only a suitcase. I read every Ukrainian is allowed to stay in the EU and able to work. Also "living money" now in Holland when you take an Ukrainian in your house. The big problem in Holland, there are no houses. dutch people have to wait 10 or more years for a house. And only got worse last years . In Holland you would end up in a barrack for maybe months, years... or you must have a good job to pay rents or get a mortgage and look into cheaper areas, away from Amsterdam. If you are jobless or 65+ you get money.

I would leave Europe if you want to build back up online and look for cheap country. but don't know where you are allowed. Maybe first for a European ID, bank, insurance and than travel further. Estonian digital company maybe to start off? Many countries got more strict with residencies, a EU residency would be best to get first. My choice would be Brazil. Easy to stay illegal (when they catch you, 2 weeks to leave the country). I rented a studio all in for about 300 usd.

And forget about the visa problem, 90% chance you will end up with a beautiful Brazilian girl.

I hear they musy have visa fr Ukrainian also that want to go to Mexico. Not a bad choice either if you can stay legaly here and work online. Or maybe a digital nomad refugee Curacao? Or depending how they do it with visa, keep moving between Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and India if they only give short term visa.

----

"Mexico City. The commissioner of the National Migration Institute (INM), Francisco Garduño, announced, in the Senate, that asylum and refuge will be given to Ukrainians and Russians who request it. Attending a working meeting with the Committee on Border and Migratory Affairs, he indicated that Mexico endorses its humanist vocation to provide them with care. He also reported that between January and February of this year, 9,903 Ukrainians and 28,353 Russians entered the country.

He added that in total, from 2018 to 2022, the INM recorded the entry of 92 thousand 831 Ukrainians, and specified that of the 9 thousand 903 who did so so far this year, 6 thousand 50 did so in January and 3 thousand 853 , in February.

I am truly sorry to hear about your disaster, and as a first generation Canadian of WW2 Ukrainian refugees, I understand the horrific reality of your experience.

Most of my ancestral family was murdered by Stalin's soldiers and his Ukrainian Famine Genocide, Holodomor.

NO human being ever "deserves" that, for any reason.

I wish you good luck and safe journey.

Well, I would normally say, you are very much welcome in Turkey but we are deep dived into shit with all Syrians, Afghans etc. I can't also help you with a few buck since our money also lowest value ever. But again you can easily get a work permit, residency even citizenship in here.

The world is unstable now. As usual...
I love Turkey so much and really sorry that it has conflicts with other countries.
For now I probably will try to find the right place somewhere in Europe

Tasty1 and Leming, here are my unsolicited thoughts.

I've personally lived in Mexico for several years. It's a dangerous country, with levels of corruption, complacency and incompetence only matched by Russia and Ukraine (sorry Leming).

Worse than the government which you do not have to deal with every day, is the common people around you. They are so numb to the aforementioned issues that many (not all) do not bother to help each other in times of need. Times of need include getting robbed, burglarized, or in an accident. They will stare or walk by without calling the police or ambulance. The social welfare structure is almost non existent.

The only upside: rent is approximately 1/5 th to 1/3 rd of what you will pay in the United States.

By own suggestion, if you can make it all the way to Mexico, then go all the way to the US.
There are so many social programs, and private charities. Maybe its not as insanely generous as in the United Kingdom as suggested by Currently Sober.

The plus side: stability, general safety, broader social support that is really needed in the beginning, and the potential of US Citizenship in about 7 to 10 years.

There are several of us on this board including: Tasty1, Tube Ace, myself, and many others, who can share their experience with living in Mexico.

While I do not know you personally Leming, upon request, I would be more than happy to put you in touch with various Russian and Ukrainian FB groups which exist here in the US, and several private charities which help people. Some of the Catholics and Orthodox Christian churches go a step further, and help find you shared accommodation (room mate) among their members, and let their members know what skills you have, in order to earn some money. The fact that you understand English puts you way ahead of everyone else, as you are more likely to be self reliant much faster.

Either way good luck!

PS. I will follow up by email tomorrow morning (your time) to discuss the possible work.

I made a small donation to help a colleague out and support this new start up. i know how it is to start over again with nothing. Having everything bombed away and with family must be much worse.

Thank you for your time, man!
The way to the US through Mexico seems to be not so easy for me. Maybe it could work for me if I would be single, but I got family.

Who knows, may be one day I'll try this way, but for now the Europe seems to be a bit easier for me. I still can take freelance projects and pay for the rent. And meanwhile I'll be searching for the inhouse positions.

Thank you so much for your input, man! I really appreciate it!

It all depends what you want. Here in Mexico Ukrainians try to get to US and than Canada cause there is work and houses. Looking for the best place for residency is good. If you make good money and want to travel the world, you never want US residency. Than the taxmen keeps following you wherevever you are. If you are 65+, on social wellfare Mexico isn't for you.

Leming always had work online. No need to adjust to a language, search for a job or get a room mate. When i was low on money i just lived on a quiet beach for months and 300 usd all inn rent. Imagine living in Holland, no house or you pay 1000+, you might end up in a 16m2 studio for that. Need a car to go to the traffic jam while a liter gasoline cost 2,50 euro a liter. Or go in the EU to a Greek island, empty in low season and cheap yearly rent. Maybe Gran Canaria has some cheap offers.

Anyway, get out of the refugee route and find your own way. Better sit somewhere with in a cheap house in a nice village working online than in a refugee camp that will make you depressed and cost some great years of your live.

Edit, see it is whole family. Makes more difficult if you want good educationand easy language.

Hey - Sorry this has happened - 100% CS is correct, the UK would be my destination in your situation - I lived in Spain for a while as well and know that there are a lot of Ukrainians - I am not sure of their of their status, but they often own businesses...

Thank you Eddy!
Now I'm thinking about various options:
Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, Poland.
I'm choosing the country by cost of living as non-refugee for now. I'm willing to work and pay the rent.

UK seems to be an expensive option in this case.

Just a little thought, I would suggest you ditch the Lenin avatar and Kommisar nick on your website. A lot of people will see that and think Russian. Perhaps emphasize that your are Ukrainian.

UK seems to be an expensive option in this case.
Canary Islands, Playa del Ingles, must be able to find something and not so expensive.
Netherlands maybe Lelystad, Amersfoort, Hilversum, Zwolle or way North to leeuwarden most houses available. But you need the refugee route to get social housing within a few years, else you must rent in private sector (800 euro and more + 150 energy + 50 internet). If you are refugee and get a big social house you pay around 750 euro, but the government also pays around 250 for you if you dont make enough money. That would be the econmic best route for Holland, become jobless, social wellfare, get a cheap house. And than find work or start a company. Else you only qualify for expensive houses when you already have a job. Than you are working, but not making more money cause you have to pay for everything.

The longer you wait, the longer the waiting list. Cause everyone is looking for houses, when a house is for sale it is sold within 2 weeks. Social housing cost in amsterdam and other cities 5 - 20 years, except if you are refugee.. A refugee could with some luck get a house for 750 a month you would normally pay 1500 - 2500 or more in private sector in for example Hilversum. The government won't support you with the 750 euro rent when you have a good job, but 750 is better than 1500.. Also when you have a job you pay around 400 euro insurance for a family, on social welfare only 150.
