yeah my brother's a doctor, he consistently brings up three things as the major contributing factors in the cost of american health care:
1) more than half his time is spent on obese people with expensive chronic conditions
2) massive administrative departments with all the grift that entails
3) fear of malpractice litigation leading to doctors always recommending the most cutting-edge expensive treatments even when they're really not necessary

a lot of it comes down to portion size and food choices. people used to eat more fruits and veggies and it wasn't normal to eat an entire bag of cheetos as a 'snack'

There was some ideas to add special tax on fast food and generally unhealthy food, but it was opposed for some reason. But that would be key, as usually bad food is very cheap hence the reason why people buy it massively.

Yep, and there is one example - cheapest food which you can buy when you enter some store is bag of chips - which is like some sort of symbol of unhealthy , full of carbs, sugar and salt. Idea of transferring tax money to reduce cost of healthy food would work but politicians don't have balls to do it.

Governments fuck everything up that they touch and you only need to look back at
the Covid fiasco to see how incompetent they are. So I will NOT SUPPORT any form of
government taxation or regulation because ultimately it's going to cost me more money
and handicap me in business.


With regards to social problems,

I'm an alcoholic (18 years sober) and I can honestly say that no one forced the booze
down my throat. I can equally say that despite all the people that tried to get me to stop
that that it was only me that got me to quit drinking. Believe me that the only person
that can fix anyone's problems are yourself.

• No amount of money can fix obesity.
• No amount of healthy food can fix obesity.

• No amount of sympathy can fix obesity.

healthy.... They're going to stay fat.

obese as Americans. You might not find XXL junk food sizes but groceries are
cheap and heavy with sauces and sugar.

Plus there's a hell of a lot of really cheap booze in Europe and highly functional alcoholism
is pretty much common culture in all the 27 European nations. And alcohol destroys
your health and it'll make you fat.

The biggest determining factor in how fat a nation's citizens are tends to be how frigging
rich the country is.

A nation's wealth is also tends to determine how miserable most of its people are.

I can't do that. I really do love people, always have. not a 'virtue signal' thing, just the way I've always been. as a child I played with all my toys equally so none would feel left out, seriously

so one of the dudes I've been seeing for over a year is pretty overweight, prob had about 30 lbs to drop. VERY outside my usual aesthetic, I like very slim, very fit men and the other dudes I see fit that physique, but this dude is just so cool I can't help but be attracted to him

he did something incredible for me recently so as way of thanks lately I've been encouraging him to actually swim when we go to the beach, when we go into town I insist he parks his car cuz I want to walk (which I do), but also to get him off his ass. he also comes over and uses my weight machine when he's on his lunch break, and whips up a chicken stir fry glazed with orange juice and tons of spices instead of oil, or just going to KFC. my role is to roll the music and chop up the veggies for him to steam (I do not cook)

also when I go over for Sunday dinners both me and his 13 yr old daughter (she's so onboard with this weight loss thing) insist no oil in the soup and dumplings have been vetoed, replaced by more veggies

only a few weeks and he's dropped about 10 lbs so far I figure; shirts that used to be tight on him hang loose, and he's had to go up two notches on his belt. both me and his daughter are committed to supporting him in this

I figure she knows I'm having things with her dad (we aren't affectionate with each other around her and NEVER fuck at their place, only at mine), but she's 13 and a smart as hell kid. she doesn't seem to mind, she has no mom, so she prob likes having a chica around I figure. we get along really well, by now she's like a niece to me. and together we're helping her dad get healthy. win/win

point is, there are ways we CAN help people accomplish things they can't alone
