This is by far my favourite computer

Starring the Computer - IBM AN/FSQ-7

I have noticed it in so many old sci-fi movies and TV shows. I never knew that it was a real computer until just recently - I always thought it was just a cool movie prop. I credit this computer for getting me interested in computers in the first place.

This one was the first I had access to in late 1979... But mine had a 5.25 floppy drive in place of the cassette deck

EDIT: Plus the first Comppoter I actually owned Starring the Computer - Sinclair Research ZX81

This is my favorite computer

I've had many over the years from Dell - IBM - Acer etc. never an Apple. Brings back some memories but I still can't get that squealing out of my head from dial up internet access LOL and porn was mostly message boards (where I found LightSpeed cash and HornyRob).

What saddens me today is the idea when you think you bought the best then a couple of months later something else comes out that makes yours look old. I do have a laptop I bought 6 years ago and still running strong (my son uses it for games and online schoolwork if needed)

My first computer was a TRS-80 Model 1. It ran at 1.77 MHz, had 16k of Ram, and used a cassette tape recorder for storage.

When I first turned it on, there was nothing apperently to do with it because it had no software. It booted BASIC from a Rom, and that was it.

As it turns out though, that was the best because it forced me to learn how to code. I bought some books that contained software as lines of code that you had to type in, one line at a time, error free, then RUN to use, or SAVE to save to a cassette. It took hours to enter lines for some games, and even 2 days to type in a complete Star Trek game. It sounds terrible by today's standards, but it was super-fun for me, and really educational.

I still have that machine as well as a spare Model 1, plus a Model 4, with disk drives, floppies, and yikes - even some cassettes.

And just for fun, I sometimes connect the Model 4, a machine from 1982, to my Network and to the Internet, and use it to run Terminal to connect to Amazon AWS or other servers I am running. So cool.

My first computer was a Commodore C64. What a nightmare it was to type in every freakin line of code. If you typoed, you were screwed. Sometime around the early 80s, I upgraded to an Apple2. I used it to MIDI an old Minimoog. The Minimoog is in my cellar and the Apple 2 is long gone.

There are some retro computer fairs that are gaining momentum. I think I might go to one soon.

Do you still happen to have it? If so its probably worth alot. A friend of mine has an original IBM PC XT, complete with monitor, IBM Keyboard, and even the manuals. Someone offered him $12,000 for it and ... he turned it down!

haha I wish I still had it. I had it for like 3 years but once I was old enough to drive it went bye-bye and I didn't get another PC until I built my first one in 98
