Wellbutrin to quit smoking?

Has anyone been prescribed Wellbutrin to try and quit smoking?

If so, how well did it work for you and, were there actually any side effects?

I was just told that Wellbutrin is all my doctor will prescribe me (for the time being) to help with quitting.

If you want to quit smoking, then quit smoking - Period.

I didn't want to quit smoking, but I was concerned about my health. I got myself a 'Simple' vape that mimics a cigarette - An Innokin Endura T22 or T18 are ideal - Then use tobacco flavour juice.

Same hand to mouth action, same nicotine hit, same everything really - Just none of the dangerous stuff that is also in cigarette smoke. Vaping is 95% safer, and a STUPID amount cheaper. I spend less on my vape in a year than I did on cigarettes in a month...

I wouldn't advise you to get a fancy vape, that produces clouds of vapour that fill a room, and to use 'Mango Cheery' liquid... Just replace your cigarette with a vape like I suggested above, then gradually reduce the amount of nicotine in the vape juice from 18% to 12, then 6, then 3 etc...

Nicotine in and of itself, is NOT harmful - Its just one of the most addictive substances known to man. Its the other stuff in the smoke that's bad for you...

Just my personal recommendation of course

How do you know vapes are 95% safer (link?) given that their long-term health effects have not been tested?

Official Government Link

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/e...andmark-review

National Health Service (NHS) Link

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/quit-sm...-stop-smoking/

Site intended for healthcare professionals Link

https://www.gmjournal.co.uk/vaping-9...l-than-smoking

Etc, etc... I'm NOT saying its 100% risk free - Just that its 95% safer than smoking a traditional tobacco cigarette. Could there be a risk in say ten, 15, 20 years time that we are not aware of? Sure... Could be - But the the keyword is 'Could' - We know that there WOULD BE with traditional smoking

Edited to Add that I am referring to the 'Cigarette replacement vapes, that mimic a cigarette - NOT the 'mouth to lung' sub ohm vapes that are incredibly powerful and deliver HUGE clouds of vapour direct to the lungs - The ones I use give such a small amount of vapour as if you didnt breath out for 30 seconds, it would have dissipated internally.

Looked that up, and cant say I have heard of that over here in the UK - I guess it banned because 'Big Tobacco' doesn't approve

That's my vapes - The Silver T18 for when I go out, and the T22 for at home - Spare t22 charged battery far right, amd my little 18% tobacco flavour juice in the middle.

Cost:
T22 & Spare Battery £45.00
T18 £18.00
Juice 4 for £10.00
Coils (Not Pictured) £10 for pack of five - One Coil lasts around 3 months plus...

Still going strong after around 4 years of use... Only need to buy the juice 1 pack of 20 cigarettes atm costs around £12 - I smoked just over a pack per day... The math speaks for itself...

I was sat here thinking, and decided to do the math - Actually surprised myself...

So, let's say that as both the actual vapes were purchased over 4 years ago, that they have paid for themselves, and remove them from the calculation. That leaves the juice, and the coils.

Each coil lasts around 3 months, and I have 2 tanks. Thats 4 coils per year, per tank, but let's say 5 each... 10 coils cost £20.00 - Then we have the juice - I purchase them in boxes of 20 for £50 per box. I get through approx 3 and a half boxes in a year... But lets say 4 boxes - 4 Boxes = £100

So that's £120 per YEAR for my vaping.

Now like I said, a pack of 20 'Cheap' cigarettes cost about £12 and I'd smoke a pack a day - £12 x just 10 days = £120.00

I'd spend the same I do on my vapes for a YEAR, in only 10 days! Not even 2 weeks! But look at the bigger picture! One pack of cigarettes a day, 365 days a year = 365 x £12 £4380

So that's £4380 per year for Cigarettes
& that's £120 per year for my vapes.

A saving of £4260 per year.... Considering I've been vaping since 2016, thats 6 years (won't count this year, as its just started) I've already saved myself £25,560...

That's over £25,000.00

& when it comes to the 'Smoking / Vaping' health side of things, I've never felt healthier. Even when I have my diabetes checkup, it comes up 'Do I smoke' and say, No, I vape' and the Nurses & Doctors say 'Great, well done' & put me down as a non smoker!

I smoked for 30+ years. When my son was born 19 years ago, I used Wellbutrin (Bupropion) for a week to quit. You must want to quit bad enough; the drug eases you through the first few days. My incentive was a new baby in the house.
Done and done.

Wellbutrin typically just stops working. Like shuts off. It never was a successful smoking cessation med. they just wanted to extend their patent and made up a new indication.

I never tried a cigarette but i hear it’s tough to quit. The best success stories are those who just put it down one day. We’re all wired differently. I’ve seen a dying man get out of bed and run after someone who had a cig. It seems women have better luck at cold turkey

Chantix worked wonders for me. Nightmares suck but you get no sensation from smoking.

Do not take it if its just because of that. It will fuck up a lot more than that in the brain.

Edit: Your doctor must be retarded. Voxra is stronger than most SSRIs and also Venlafaxine and similar SNRIs in my option.

Doctors that I work with say that vaping is worse. They didn't explain in detail why, though.

I was a heavy smoker, like 5-10 hookahs by myself per day kind of bad. Then I switched to vaping and haven't touched any kind of real tobacco in about 7 years now. The problem is.. I'm more addicted to vaping now and I don't see how I can quit unless I force myself to stop somehow.
All that propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin can't be good for you.

Fwiw, cold turkey for me. 3 days of physical, and then it's all mental.

Sounds easy, right? Well, if it was it wouldn't have taken me umpteen tries to get it right, but it is possible.

Best of luck to you.

So yesterday I started on the Welbutrin and I have to say, I was hyper as fuck all day lol

I'm really hoping that subsides after a few days of my body getting used to the medication.
