Doing business in the UK

Hi! I'm a refuge from Ukraine and currently I'm in the UK. I have an adult website and get some money on my paxum account from AdultForce and a few more similar sponsors. Is it legal to withdraw cash from an ATM with Paxum card (UnionPay) here in the UK? Will financial monitoring be interested in me if I withdraw 10000 gbp per month for example? I think I should pay taxes. I'm here more than 6 months, so I guess I should be a tax resident already here. In fact, I don't mind paying taxes, I just don't know how to do it right. In fact, I want to be legal here, show income, pay taxes, I want to be able to buy some real estate in the future for example. To buy something or rent an apartment I need to have some legal income. Do you think it is possible to register some company and receive it to the bank account? Either directly by a wire transfer from sponsor or from Paxum account. Should I explain to the bank what exactly these translations are? I mean I don't think I will be able to explain this is porn business. Is it possible to receive it like a payment for the development of design or software? Or there is some easier way? So, in general, how do you do it here in the UK? Thanks!!!

10,000 GBP per month will probably get noticed but there's not much anyone could do. If you had a UK bank account and move that amount of money into it, money laundering rules mean the bank will have to notify the inland revenue. It's not illegal to run a business selling porn in the UK although some banks may decide not to deal with you if you tell them exactly what it is. I've been paying cheques and wires into my account at Barclays for the last 15 years and they've never asked me where it comes from. Best to just tell them it's online marketing but not the exact thing that is being marketed. If you decide to do it as a business talk to an accountant.

What part of Ukraine by the way?

+1 for Barclays. In my heyday, I was doing a LOT through Barclays, and rather than disapprove, the Bank Manager took me into his office, shook my hand and gave me his personal mobile phone number, should I ever need him for anything.

Not a brag, just a true story in reference to the attitude of Barclays Bank

You can get paxum to pay money into a UK bank account too if that helps.

You need to speak to an accountant before you do anything for advice.

I would suspect if you want to buy a house in the UK and plan you get a mortgage that you would need to show income and so on.

My friend purchased a house and they wanted to see evidence of everything.

They will probably want a copy of bank statements and all sorts.

But you need to speak to an accountant rather than take advise on this forum, as you do not want to mess up.

Yeah but was that before or after you offered to let him shag your wife?

I already have an account in NatWest, and I would send money from Paxum directly to NatWest card. But I'm afraid it's not a good idea, because the bank will ask me what it is. I withdraw some cash from an ATM for living. But the problem that I didn't use the Paxum card since the beginning of the war, and there is 30k there at this moment. And on one hand on I'm afraid to keep this amount on Paxum (I have had many bad experience with Epassporte and the others) and on the other hand I'm afraid to withdraw cash in local ATM.

I found that there should be an age verification system. Now I'm trying to understand what it is and how it works. However I open Brazzers and Pornhub from UK IP and don't see any age verification. From my home Internet provider all porn sites are banned but using VPN with UK IPs I still can visit everything.

Sounds great. I worked the same way in Ukraine, just received wires, paid taxes and nobody asked me anything. So, do you receive the wire transfers like an LTD Company? Not like a private person? Not to a private bank account?

For the moment it's probably safe to carry on withdrawing via ATM because there's no connection between the ATM and your Paxum card and your bank account. The only issue would be if Paxum questions why your account is based in Ukraine but the money is being withdrawn in the UK. You'd have to ask them if that's likely to be a problem.

If you withdraw the money into your bank account make sure it's less than 5000 GBP per month. As far as I know that's the amount that triggers the money laundering rules (same goes for paying cash in). Not that there's anything wrong anyway, it would just mean that the Inland Revenue gets notified and then they would expect to see that money accounted for on a tax return or something.

Don't take my word here as the absolute truth, it's only as I understand it to be. If you really want to be sure try to find an accountant who deals with online businesses. If you are turning over more than 85,000 GBP per year you will need to register for VAT which is a pain in the ass for this type of business.

I don't use Paxum much but I have withdrawn money into my UK bank account (personal account) some years ago and no-one asked any questions. Bear in mind, there's nothing illegal about earning money online and using Paxum to receive that money! There's also nothing illegal (in the UK) about earning money from promoting porn sites, but as I said, some banks or at least bank managers may not like it. But you don't have to tell them it's porn sites - it could just as easily be mainstream dating sites or anything else.

There's no need for any age verification system. There was going to be but the government dropped the plan when they realised it was not going to work. You can be thankful the UK government is so incompetent for this. However, porn is blocked by default by some internet providers, but you can get them to unblock it, you just need to ask them or you may be able to do it yourself. If it's BT Broadband you can do it from inside your BT account.

I don't run it as a ltd company, not at the moment. Just receive everything to a normal bank account. You can have a business account as a "sole trader" without a ltd co, but you don't even need that. With some EU companies like Payserve/Paybig they don't even charge for the wires to UK accounts.

Just go to Europe / other country a few months so you don't become tax resident in the UK.

Or do you really want to live in that climate?

Maybe you will change your way to get money from private sites to more useful. For example, you are in the UK right now, so you have a great opportunity to help people in Ukraine get more information in learning languages, especially from native speakers. And if you need some material, I can help you with some cards https://wunderkiddy.com/material/what-they-eat Little children around the world love to study something new!

That's for forming limited co's, he doesn't need to do this. Trading as a sole trader is fine and for that all you need to do is open a bank account and tell the inland revenue that you're self employed.

End of, living in UK; show your money and pay tax, if not, prison!

21% tax and if you make the content, 21% vat, get an accountant...

if you don´t, you will get caught and when you do, your " oh i didn`t know " will not count, you´re paying what we pay, you´re paying what we all pay...

it´s business.

straight into any bank account, barclays, natwest, or from your paxum into any bank, but speak with an accountant and have an accountant deal with your assets, you have no liability

Well OK, but this Ukrainian fellow should be aware before he becomes official and rests his hopes of being a permanent resident of the UK on an adult business, that the official UK government website is still stating that strict age verification laws will be introduced, and that there has been nothing in the UK media over the last 2 months stating that the situation has changed, or that Rishi Sunak is 'cool with porn'.

What do strict age verification laws have to do with being a permanent resident of the UK?

Some areas are completely destroyed, and some are almost untouched, this is very strange. My building has not been destroyed.

Ok, thanks.
It looks like the only ATM that accepts paxum's Union Pay is Barclays, a universal bank, some government bank.

good question! I can't say that climate is the biggest problem. Of course people here think that summer is when you put on a jacket in July. For me the bigger problem is the healthcare system, it's impossible to get an appointment with a doctor other than a GP. And private clinics are very expensive. Also renting and buying real estate will be expensive. The problem that I don't like all these old fashioned English houses. The only reason why are we here is English language. I almost don't understand local people (I'm not far away from Liverpool) but at least I can explain what I need somehow and the child goes to school and understands something. In Spain or Portugal we would need to learn a language from scratch. But there are new modern houses and living is cheaper and sun and sea. But we are still can't decide if we want to stay here or not.

Don't focus too much on the language and look at all factors.

In almost every country there are bi-langual schools, on Gran Canaria there are at least 3 i see.
Hardly anybody speaks Spanish on Gran Canaria with all those people from Europe. I know some bar owners and affiliates who live 20 years in Spain and don't speak Spanish (i would have learnt it though).

It is even worse, Holland is full of people who even don't speak Dutch or English. But they find their way.

There is even a Dutch school in Mexico City, and other big cities around the world, with a lot of dutch expats. Just look where there are many expats / tourist / wintertourist.

I would rather go to the US (if Possible) than UK if language is important. Cause this shit isn't over yet in Europe.

Well true, but it is not a big deal to rotate banks and locations. All I meant was, a non-permanent resident with a foreign card should not have a problem with that monthly sum.
