Question about teaser vids for niche tube sites

My first post here, and I'm aggressively reading thru the Educational sub-forum as well as everything else here, but I wanted to just throw this out...

I'm simply looking into creating a niche tube site for starters, no big deal. I could use wp-script or something similar and embed video links that are hosted elsewhere. Yes, I know this is ancient stuff.

But I'm also looking into doing a combo of hosting my own videos and emebedded. If I understand correctly, the usual subscription based Adult video sites make 3-8 min teaser videos available? These are usually seen identically in many tube sites.

Is it common to sign up as an affiliate with these sites to obtain the videos to host myself, and have a nearby link that the viewer can sign up for a subscription? (and obviously an aff commission for my site)

Is this still somewhat viable if the niche is reasonable? (I barely expect to make any money, it's mainly just a way to get started)
