A 3-year-old Minnesota boy who was attacked by two pit bulls last week is not expected to survive, his family said.

When the dogs began to attack Covil, adults "started to defend the 3-year-old by using hammers and pick axes to get the dogs off,” according to the warrant.

Police officers arrived and saw the dogs attacking the child and shot both animals, police said. One dog was killed and the other was taken to a veterinary hospital and euthanized.

I know some of the people who like me on here will disagree, but pitbulls should require a license to own I think, maybe same with rottweilers.

I've been bitten by both, and if I had been a little less lucky, I could have had my face ripped off or be fuckin' dead! Those fuckers are deadly as fuck!!!

I even followed these pot smoking babes out of Vancouver who had a rotti or pitbull, I forget, and they both got chewed up real bad by their dog that just snapped on them. I think they're still fucked up to this day but I haven't checked in on them in awhile.

Yes, yes, of COURSE, if you have good and responsible owners, these dogs are usually fine and good dogs. But anyone with a fuckin' brain knows these dogs attract people like a takeover attracts a stolen Hellcat in L.A., like seriously, the chaos and pain these dogs can cause in the wrong hands is some of the most preventable shit a society should be able to manage.

Just like a month ago, a 12 year old boy in like Edmonton was mauled to death by a pitbull and the rabbit hole of a story is so demented and fucked that you don't want to know anymore details, trust me.

Their "mean" looks and bad rep are also a selling point for people in low-income communities for protection / guard dogs (people are less likely to burglarize a home with a dog. A pit? Forget about it).
The cycle of lack of training / stimulation continues. The cycle of not de-sexing and unwanted litters continue. Attacks continue. Hatred continues.
And people feel totally comfortable asking for all of these dogs to be put down. I'm sorry for the ramble but this is not sitting right with me. And I just know if you call someone out on this they'd just shout statistics at you and blah blah blah, but the point still stands. There are more pits that don't attack than ones that do. But there aren't any reports of that cause why would there be?

I get that these dogs can be dangerous, I don't take owning one lightly and I'm wary when I pass others on the street. As I am with all large dogs but that's beside the point. All we can do is train and work with our dogs so they can be a good representation. Enough of the "they used to be nanny dogs" crap and "they wouldn't hurt a fly" stuff. While your individual dog may be friendly and bubbly (so is mine) we have to be realistic about being pit owners. The last thing I want to do is diminish other people's feelings of wariness and fear of these dogs. If their only experiences with pits have been violent or frightening we can't expect them to change their minds just cause your dog wears a bandana or something. I hate this is the world we live in. And with the increasing violence in the US at least, I'm always afraid that someone's going to attempt to hurt my dog. You never know these days.

Once again, I'm sorry for the ramble. I'm just sick of trying to defend the mere existence of these dogs. And it seems every time I do I feel an anti-blackness, anti-POC, and an anti-poor vibe from everyone I interact with.
