Nothing illegal unless the content is illegal under the Canadian Criminal Code.

On the customs declaration label them as "proofs" so as to not attract GST and possibly duty.

You may get a question from customs if you are shipping 100 CDs

Better to consider DVDs and cut the units down.

No...if your businesses are legal, licensed, etc and if the content CD's consist of legal content complete with all the right releases and copies of ID and all that jazz, there is no reason why it should be illegal. Plus, if it's from company to company for inventory reasons, the CD's are merely your company inventory, no?

Wow 50 gigs, let him copy it on a hd man.
And why would it be illegal, just like the other people said, as long as its legal content theres nothing to worry about.

Here is what i have found...

Fedx and ups have almost the same Restrictions also same with usps.

Things you can't ship through them:
The following items and types of consignments will not be accepted for transportation via FedEx International Premium and FedEx International Express Freight service under any circumstances:

Articles or products from animals or plants protected under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora)
Bees
Bearer Bonds
Bills of Exchange
Cash, currency, negotiable instruments
Cash on Delivery (C.O.D.) shipments
Gambling devices
Hazardous Waste
Human remains
Live fish
Live household pets
Live monkeys
Lottery tickets and materials
Money (paper and coins)
Negotiable instruments (stocks, bonds, cash letters and other negotiable instruments equivalent to cash)
Pornography
Shipments prohibited by any law, statute or regulation
Switchblade and flick knives

http://www.fedex.com/us/services/exp...trictions.html

http://www.ups.com/media/en/Final_Tariff.pdf

They also say they have the right to look into packages or determine if it's all right to send. Also some where says there is a fine, if you send something on there list. Fed ex only I think... Not sure... upto to 2500 bucks...

TECHNICALLY it's illegal to ship pornographic material over the border. But I have NEVER once had a problem when I mark it as "press material".

Let me give you MY 2 cents on this. What you need to do is ZIP the content with a password, then rename the file to some wierd extention like .dbx

You can't open this shit anyway - even if the FedEx guy is smart enough to open a 700MB (or in your case 50GB) file with Notepad (haha) and see the ZIP header, he still can't open it because of the pass.

The contents? DBX man - a database of some weird data

Shut up fruit. Don't make me get Kelly on your ass!!!

I do like the password for the zip files idea. Then even if they did see the zip files, they couldn't open it.

Good idea, but zipping 50GB is going to be a pain. It'd probably take at least a week for a decent computer to even zip that large amount of data.

if you are doing it on cd label the cds "database backup 1" "database backup 2" etc. so it looks like you are just backing up something big
