They'll fade long before then, most of the big domain players are already saying the .tv is fizzling and looks like its lost any momentum it had last year. When expirations exceed new registrations by a wide margin its a good indicator that its on the down slope.

But I do agree, I cannot see .TV become all that successful. But who knows, it's the internet afterall!

.com and .net new registrations did see a drop off after the dot com fallout. However, during the last 6 months .com sales have really picked up and registrars are doing record numbers. .tv is just another country extension that has some mild popularity because of the recognized letters and the inflated registration pricing. I can see the extension being advantageous for any site related to television media, but to make it out to be much more than that doesn't fly.
