New York Minute

Has anyone heard the redo of "New York Minute" by Don Henley?
I heard it today. It was extremely touching. I am looking for the mp3.
They took parts of the song away, and added bits of people talking during the tragedy.

It was almost like the song was wrote for this.

I wonder if Henley knows about the song and is okay with it. . . to me is seems like an empty sentiment like when Elton John changed a few words to his candle in the wind song and dedicated it to princess Di. . .

I think it's not much more than people trying to use this tragedy for their own gain. If Henely did authorize this song then I think I may have lost a lot of the respect I have for him.

Keith Richards said it best when he was talking about the Elton John song " if she really meant that much to him you'd have thought he'd would have written a new song for her. "

Anyway, I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade, just saying my 2 cents

Kane, while I do agree that it is too soon to have so many, sometimes lame, attempts to combine songs that were never meant to be linked to such a disaster... I will have to say that it appears to help some people to come to grips with their emotions.

It's easy to complain about the song(s) but remember... it's as easy just to turn the dial.

These "tribute songs" are not endorsed by the artists ... they are talented people mixing news clips with meaningful music.
I have made a CD with many good ones I have found ... Amy Grant/I Will Remember You ... Creed/Higher ... Don Henley/New York Minute ... Annie Lennox/Why ... Eric Clapton/Tears in Heaven (this one was particularly good) ... Blessed Union of Souls/I believe ... Live/Lightning Strikes ... Enrique Iglesias/Hero ... LeeAnn Rhimes/Please Remember Me ... Faith Hill/Star Spangled Banner ... Sara McLaughlin/Angel ... John Lennon/Imagine ...
and a few more ...

These are the songs of our time, mixed with actual "breaking news" sound bytes. I think they are freaking BRILLIANT, and my hat goes off to their creators!

I was not around when JFK bit the bullet. I have often had a curiousity what that must have been like, and have asked my mother about her recollection of that event. She can tell me exactly where she was and what she was doing (as most people who were around for it can), but the emotion and the chaos are hard to fathom, just by my mother's brief description of it.

When my children, or grandchildren, want to know about the day the WTC was destroyed, I will play the CD for them, and let them "feel" the pain of the nation.

I think every time the CD will be played, I will remember all who lost their lives, all that GAVE their lives to try to save others, ... and how the world (minus JIMMY-3-WAY and TOLIK) banded together to grieve, kick some Iraqi and Afgani ass, and rebuild what was destroyed.

Music is an outlet for many people to express themselves ...
God bless these people for thier couple minute creative contributions to history.

How about REM's Everybody Hurts. Always been my fave song and perfect for what everyone is feeling. Even ends with an offering of hope.
