Photographers...Muslin backdrop question...

I just received a muslin backdrop via FedEx...it smells to high heaven like mold and has green flaky chips all over it. Is this normal for a brand new muslin backdrop?

Thanks.

I sent the first one back for the same thing...they either sent me the same fucking one in a new box or they have a serious problem with their supplier. Still, I wanted to make sure I wasn't nuts (about this issue, at least).

I would take a guess and assume that they may be storing them in a location that is prone to mold and humid. I would get a refund this time and buy from another supplier.

Or just have a local seamstress sew one up for you. Muslin is one of the cheapest fabrics available.

I'm with you on this one...I was concerned when the first one arrived -- the manufacturer is shipping them in plastic product bags which I found odd. Muslin and moisture DO NOT MIX and a plastic product bag will definitely collect moisture..
