LeBron James IS the next Michael Jordan

Just wanted to point that out so you all can enjoy the next 15 years of his basketball career paying attention to his greatness.

He's only 20 years old and he's setting all kinds of records for a guy only starting his 3rd year in basketball, straight from high school.

I'm also from Cleveland, so yes, I'm a little biased. When Jordan played, I made sure I watched every game of his, he knew how to take over a game and win. LeBron is starting to do the things Jordan did later in his career. He's driving to the hoop, drawing major fouls, hitting all kinds of jumpers and 3 pointers including the big shots needed in crunch time.

So pay attention if you see him play on TV.

The Cavs will make the Playoffs this year and maybe advance to the second round or better.

And, he will win MVP this year.

You must be smoking dick if you think he's the next Michael Jordan. The only one with the skill enough to even come close would have to be either Kobe Bryant, or Vince Carter if he actually gave a damn...

I hate it when up and coming stars get pushed like this man, leave the kid alone and let him play his game. Don't compare him to other people.

I hate when people compare up and comers to Jordan too, but this guy really has the skills and mind set.

I only posted it here so that when the season is over and the rest of the world agrees, you can all say, D$ told ya so.

Obviously, he has to win championships to be the next Jordan, but this kid at the rate he's improving his game will be at that level in the next year or 2. Hopefully the Cavs team will support his greatness.

It's ok to disagree, I'm just letting you all know so you can pay attention to his games when he's on TV. He's the real deal. Better then Kobe and Iverson already. If you were to build a team around any player in the NBA, tell me you wouldn't choose LeBron. I rest my case.

Lebron is the real deal. But the cavs need good supporting players around him. It's kinda tuff for him to win a ring, not when the Spurs, the Pistons still have the same players who played together for years.
On a personal note.. I love watching Lebrons play. Still the best player of all time is MJ. Heck, I named my son Michael. ;)

OK. First off, nobody needs that comparison. Its not fair. You can't look for the next "Airness" you have to look for these people to create thier own legendary status. James and Anthony will both go down as great players, barring injury or personal problems (carrying your friends backpack into an airport)....

Lebron James is the next Lebron James.

And Carmelo the next Jordan?

lebron is MUCH better than jordan was at the same age...He understands the game much better than jordan did, and abilities are on par or better. He's a freaking man child

Him being better has to do with the course of time and sustained dominance. I wouldnt be surprised though if he ends up better

disagree- lebron has talent but the killer instinct is just not there with him. he lacks the clutch drive in the lane to win and opts for the long 3 too often.

wishful thinking at best --- sorry to burst your bubble as i am sure you just got done with lebron on tivo lol

Right on point. Lebron is the real deal.

Props to D$ for giving C-Town and Lebron some love.

I knew I wasn't alone in this point of view.

No other player had as high of a points per game, rebounds and assists as Lebron's averages.

Evan, don't hate, appreciate. Just cause Vince Carter was hyped to be the next Jordan, don't be hatin' on LeBron.

Jordan used to call Elho "white bread".

"You can't guard me white bread."

I loved when Jordan would punk out players during games. I hope LeBron starts to do that one day.

No offense, but you're about 3-4 years too late. I love LB too, but he's not an MVP yet. Let his team first MAKE the playoffs, then get out of the first round and actually win something before we start calling him the MVP. He is a top talent in the L, but not MVP yet. T-Dunk is the MVP till further notice in my opinion. Cavs are a weak team overall.

Now if you really want to be ahead of the curve you'd post about O.J. Mayo. Check out the upcoming issue of SI to give the new JUICE some LUV.

Vince Carter has more raw ability than any player in the NBA. He just doesn't have the drive, motivation, nor defense. He, like Kobe, can score 30 on you on any given night if wanted to. I won't even get in to high flying abilities. Iverson also, if he was 6'6 he could potentially be the next MJ. The guy is 5'10 even though he's listed at 6'0, and he drains 40 a night. Lebron IS great and he IS better than MJ at the age, but you forget MJ stepped his game up in college, and then exponentially improved in the NBA. Lebron doesn't have the drive, nor the will to win, like MJ has. Nor does he have nearly as much talent. Lebron is the next lebron, but MJ? No..

I agree that since this season isn't over yet, he's not the MVP, yet.

All I'm saying is that he has a way better team around him this year, Larry Hughes is awesome, they have an all star center with Z and a bench that can step in and beat most other teams benches in the NBA. This is why I'm predicting that IF the Cavs at least make the playoffs, LeBron will win MVP.

I'm seeing LeBron get that killer instinct this season which he lacked in his first 2 years. He's improved his outside shot and he's taking it to the hole at will way more often. He's not Michael Jordan yet, but he's looking very close to it already at the age of 20.

Kobe almost had the ability to be the next Jordan, but he doesn't understand the team game. LeBron does, he's very unselfish.

We can agree to disagree on this. I'm just stating my opinion, most of you who watch LeBron and understand the game will agree with me. The rest of you are on crack and jack off way too much.

No fucking way... I remember that back in 1996 when Kobe came out, they were saying the same fucking shit!.. Is he Jordan ? Has he accomplished what Jordad did? Not even close!!

Lebron is REAL good.. but never will he get to be jordan or even same cloud.

You should buy/watch come fly with me.. to refresh your memory! There is nobody like jordan...

At least down here we have a ghetto version.. he goes by the name of D. Wade !!!

If anything Lebron will be closely matched to Magic.. NOT Mike!! We can agree to disagree all u want.. but until this kid does what Mike did.. u are just wrong. =)

You also say that Lebron is at a more mature state than Jordan was on his 3rd yr.. Remember that year? Search back to Jordans 3 yr.. Not 1987 cuz he was injured for most of it but his "full" 3rd yr.. 1988 .. Remember that season? Is Lebron on pace for that? NEGATIVE!

I did want Miami to get the #1 pick so they could draft Lebron, but now, I dunno if I would trade Wade for James!

Lebron has at least 15 to 20 more years to gather his footage.

But I'm a big Jordan fan and I never thought I'd see another person come close to him.

LeBron is way younger in his 3rd year then Jordan in his 1988 season. And of course, LeBron still needs to win championships. But let's just look at him right now at the age of 20. He's got some Magic and Jordan in him.

And what I'm saying is he is the next Jordan, he's not Jordan yet. But he will be.

I don't think we're going to see the same kind of growth in Lebron as we did with Jordan as far as improving his game. I think guys like Lebron are exceptional players and exceptional for their age but that they reach their peak performance quickly, and their peak is far below that of Jordan's.

I agree that Lebron is way younger.. BUT.. the reason why he is playing in the pros is because he was too "old" for college.. He was like u said; a man child.. So that is not a valid point... You can not give him credit for being young, yet at the same time.. defend him for being young. Take either one.. Either compare him at jordan's 3rd year or dont.... Now let's not even go that far.. Compare him to Wade.. Wade did WAY more than Lebron in his first year.. as a rookie WITHOUT shaq... than lebron has done in his career!

He is very young.. but he is build like jordan never was.. which will make it even harder for him to become the "next" jordan. Jordan was never that kind of specimen.. he had the balls and the heart.. and the drive... that along with talent of course made him who he is...

Will there be another jordan? Im sure.. there's gotta be someone born better than him at all levels.. I just doubt he is alive yet!

That is exactly how i have felt from the begining too.. I thought he was too good too quick.. I can't see him improving much.. He will improve.. most ppl improve with experience.. but how much greater can he get? he wont.. Look at Garnett.. When he came out of High School he was this skinny kid.. now he is mad fucking strong.. and with that his game improved.. If lebron grows any bigger.. he has to change position and sport to linebacker!

LB is really a point forward. An athletic wing with the ball-handling of a 1. If anything Lebron is more like the Big O than Magic or MJ. I saw Lebron play at 2 ABCD camps, at I.S. 8 in Queens and Rucker and he just keeps getting better. Lenny Cooke and 'Melo all matched up favorably against LeBron when they played.

LeBron has all the skills in the world and the Cavs are much improved, but they will still fall far short of winning anything this year. If i had to pick one player to start a team with it'd be T-Dunc, not LB.

and maybe Lebron decides in 2 years to start shooting heroin, find god and become a priest, die in a car accident, start playing baseball, or even have a serious injury!

if after 10 years he is in good health and won 2-3 championships and MVP's then we can say he is great, for now he only has the POTENTIAL like 100's of others

Exactly.

I hope there is another Jordan out there, but I don't think we'll live to see him if he is.

Life has a weird way of working though. If there is another Jordan, he'll probably be some unassuming guy that nobody gives a rats ass about because he doesn't glitter like gold in his first or second year. But after that he slowly but surely begins doing things nobody else on the court can.

I wonder what he's going to look like in 5 years from now.

Anyway, great insight in this thread. Just wanted to share my opinion and see what others think. Good stuff.

I will say this, LeBron is still improving in all areas of his game, each year. This is another reason why I think he's got that potential. If he wasn't still improving, I'd agree that he just hit his peak at an early age. But I bought the basketball season package and I watch each game closely and I look at his stats. He is definitely still improving which is what Jordan did as well. Vince Carter pretty much stayed the same.

D Wade rocks, I'm very impressed with his heart and ability. But no way would I take him over Lebron. He had a much better team then Lebron had the last 2 seasons, even without Shaq. D Wade is one of the best players in the NBA, no doubt. Both Wade and LeBron make their teammates much better.

And I'll admit like I said before, I'm from Cleveland, so I'm a little biased. If I were from Miami, I'd probably take Wade.

It's funny how no one talks about Kobe Bryant but yet he has 3 championship rings under his belt. He is half way home compared to jordan in rings, recognize people recognize.
