Anyone here ever build their own bike? as in motorbike

it has been on my mind for a few months...and since i'm getting into my own house wiht a garage soon, i am thinking of projects to keep me busy.

i want to build my own Harley...from the ground up.

buy a frame etc etc....i know it will be more work then just watching american choppers..lol

however i think over 2-3 years i could do a kick ass job.

anyone here ever do anything like that?

I've considered it, just never did it. Doubt I ever will. Easier to buy one pre made, by someone that knows what they are doing. Less likely parts will fall off then.

I help rebuild a 1967 SpitFire Mark II BSA back in my Toronto Days, The bike is up in Brampton ... It was a fun project but to tell you the truth I know nothing about motors .. It's aways a good idea to have some Motor savy friends .. I've got quite a few, hee hee

True story. About 2 years ago, I'm chatting online with OrgasmDave (y'all remember him right) he's a huge bike enthausist, anyhow we're chatting bikes and I mention the BSA, Candy apple Red, It's a really rare Bike. So he Mentions someone he knows has it one in his living room .. Turns out to be the same Guy .. not only that But Dave and I stem from the same Industry!!! ... Small world Bro

See ya in TO

I don't know much about bikes but I do know something about autos and the experience likely carries over.
If you want something that you can just start up and ride without having to fix something (perhaps each and every time), this probably isn't going to be as rewarding of a project as it first sounds. If you have a 'daily driver' to get you by when your project vehicle isn't running and you just want to go cruise for fun, you'd probably be a lot happier.
