Opninions needed: Canon digital camera ***

We are currently shopping for a digital camera to use on the shows wich is good in quality and price. We are not going to do our own exclusive photoshoots with it or anythign, we just need something decent.

Someone mentioned the Canon 350D as being a perfect camera for the money (about 700 euros here).

Anyone having experience with this camera? Or maybe can give some advice about a diffrent one?

Thanks already.

great cam, amateur though, check the warrenty, 50k shutters and youre screwed, I know at least 10 ppl who could throw it away.

if youre going for an SLR get a 10d or the newer 20/30d, bit higher in price but you wont have to look at a $500 repair in 2 yrs.

350D is perfect for the money.
If you have more money to spend, i suggest the EOS 30D, which is way better (not a huge difference concerning the image quality, but the 30D has a larger LCD and many cool features).

DON'T GO with the default lens provided with the 350D kits.
You'd better choose one of those lenses :
Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM
Sigma 17-70mm F2,8-4,5 DC

Have a look into dpreview.com before buying anything !

If you just need a point & shoot for webmaster shows look at the Sony DSC-R1. You don't need a Canon SLR.

I have heard the 350D is pretty good. I have the 20D and I love it. Good luck with your decision. I think any of the Canon SLR's will do a great job.

Get Canon EOS 20D (8.2 million pixels) I know it cost a liitle more than you intend to spend, but if you'll get it - you won't regret!
Otherwise, you can get Canon EOS 10D or EOS D60. They are cheaper

Good luck with your buy!

Can you advice what lens/flash woudl be good to use if we decide to go with the 30D? Or is the basic kit enough? The places we will be shooting will be dark/stage/lights/lots of moving etc.

I'd go for 2nd hand 10D or if u can stetch to it 20D... far beteer build quality than 350d.... If u got 10D expect to pay c 400 euros for a good 1.... With the money u save go for a decent lens..... Sigma have runout stock of their 20-40 2.8 at about another 300 - 400 euros.
Forget lens that come with camera kits.. they're crap.

I have the 20D and fucking love it. It has so many features and I still have 0 clue how to use 90% of em, but when i get around to reading the whole manual i'll be a champ.
