Homeowners: how accurate is Zillow on your house?
check out zillow.com and put your address in and it tells you your homes value.
Is it accurate for you? I dont know if it is for me, if so im scared lol. thought mine was worth more |

They couldnt locate any homes on my street LOL - and I would say they are probably tapping the tax valuation database so its going to be real low compared to real resale value

Seems to be off by about 10-15% + or - depending on what area's you are looking at. I've been using that site a lot lately and when I check out houses here in Florida it seems to be lower by about 10-15% than the actual real housing cost's.
I've also been looking at houses in Texas and there in a lot of areas it seems to be about 10-15% over the actual costs. So seems to be a nice guide but not 100% accurate.

Wouldn't trust it at all. We have found that about 25% of the time it comes in comprable to an AVM, automated Value measurement, but AVMS are quite often far off from a full appraisal. If you need a value call up local realtors if you're thinking of selling or call up a local appraiser and he'll usually pull comparables for $50.

TOTALLY wrong...my house has two more bedrooms and one less bathroom than Zillow found. Also, the house was appraised at $890,000.00 a month ago and Zillow says its only worth $620,000.00

i own 3 homes. the one i live in is 15-25k low, my rental house is a little high, the house im moving to is the exact price i paid (they probably took the price i paid from records)

10k over what we paid a couple months ago. some of the other ones nearby seam crazy, lakefront i've never seen less than 650 and they show several line 300's so i'm not convinced.

the price it gave was about $100k off ... but if you look at the details it only based it on lot size ... so figuring in the improvements and pool ..shit like that .. the range it listed on the details page was a bit closer .. but still about $40k off on that page. I had the house appraised about 6 months ago ..

$324,485 ... Just paid $325k for it, but the appraisal came in at $345k. Pretty spot on though!
