Ok who has a Wrangler here?

Saw a nice one, I know the 4.0 HO use a lotta gas but theyre just for fun, Ive always wanted on and they have a 1992 with hardtop black as like it a/c even for $5k not that bad imho

So what are downsides?

I owned one in the 90's. They are great cars that really don't have many downsides. When you get one you kinda know what to expect.

The only things I can say is the 4.0's are kinda underpowered. The bumpy ride may get on your nerves and removing and putting on the top is a pain in the ass.

BUT, of all the cars I've owned luxury sportscars included, the Wrangler was the most fun overall. Driving on the highway with no top and no doors heading to the beach where you can just drive right onto the sand with no problems cannot be beat.

It attracts very cool chicks as well.

that inline 6 4.0 is a very strong and dependable motor. don't buy the 4cyl., they are gas hogs and use more than the 4.0 - you pretty much have to rev high everywhere you go.

wish I could get an inline 6, the HO 4.0 are all 4 cyl here, theres the 2.5 thats even worse.

this is not gonna be my daily ride but I do so many 5 mile rides postoffice supermarket I just like a fun ride for that, Im always alone so no need for a sedan, I have one, this is for picking up beer n stuff

Yeah the top.

I knew thats a pain, convertibles are a pain too, most are, im not talkin SLK or so. Ill leave the hardtop on most of the times, this one has a/c thats nice too.

I've owned 3.
1990 4cyl
1987 6cyl
2006 Rubicon 6cyl (current)

The ONLY one I was happy with was the 87.
The 1990 4cylinder had NO POWER AT ALL! It's like driving a scooter tent. It was awful. I ditched it fast.

The 2006 rubicon is awful. Rides like shit.

The 87 was great.

My advice, DO NOT buy the 4cyl Wrangler. TRUST ME you will hate it if you have any kind of hills near you.

A 2.5l 4cyl is the most common. a 4.0l 4cyl doesn't exist in the US or Canada so I can't help you with that.

I currently have two, and 89 YJ built which I'm working on selling. And a 99 TJ I just bought two weeks ago. Jeeps are so much fun, I'm sure I'll be a Jeep owner my whole life.

My 89 YJ, though it's been cherry picked to go up for sale.

In the US there are:
2.5l 4cyl
4.2l 6cyl

Anything past 1992 has a 4.0L 6cyl (4.2 is carbeurated)

If you buy anything over 10 years old in a jeep, it's guaranteed to have been RAGGED on. As in driven very very hard. Jeeps are never taken care of and they WILL need work.

I put over 8k in BASIC repairs into both of my older jeeps. Awful cars.

I love seeing new jeeps come into the world but honestly unless you want it to be in the shop more than your driveway you may want to pass.

A Gr Cherokee is cool. But know what. We pay roadtax by the lbs. So a Gr Cherokee is like $400 per 3 months JUST tax. Then then do like 10 gallon to the mile so. And since a gallon is like $12 here no thanks.

Theyre dirtcheap here, 95 Gr Cherokee 100k on it is like 2k. Noone wants them.

The Rubi really isnt designed for the roads. They made that model for odd roading, weekend driver, etc. I agree, its a horrrible ride, I had one for 3 months before I sold it. Im a fan of the tj model(97-up) Stay far away from the 4cyl, nothing but problems, motor almost the same as the 4cyl Dodge caravans

I've got a '81 CJ 8 Scrambler. That's the one with the longer back end. Perfect for throwing a bike or surfboard in and with the doors off and a bikini top it's nothing but fun to drive. Had it for 11 years now and I'll never get rid of it.

Had a 2000 Wrangler Sport. Sold it but miss it a lot. Jeeps have a lot of options for customization, with roof racks, lights, etc. They do have shitty gas mileage and have a horrible drag coefficient (like driving a box on wheels) but the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.
