Mostly about 90% of pro wrestlers have some kind of skill ! eventhough pro wrestling is fake it still takes some kind of athleitsism to do anyways...and kurt angle was an oylmpic medalist should be interesting

i'm guilty. and besides... the match between Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania a couple of years ago was easily the most intense wrestling match i have ever seen. in that match.. those guys pushed themselves to the absolute physicaly limits.... including when Brock Lesnar did a backflip off the ropes and landed on his head and actually jarred his neck and spine almost paralyzing himself... gave himself a concussion and still finished the match.

he was out for several weeks after that match and from what i remember had to have surgery. those guys are animals!

Angle just recently banged his neck up and had to have surgery. it wasn't because of that match though. Angle has had quite a few bad bumps as of recent trying to go extreme with his wrestling style and that's what put him in a surgery room and recovery for a while.

that's happened to a few of them! one that comes to mind was Ravishing Rick Rude. there were a few others that died of heart failure and i'm sure it was because of prior drug / substance abuse... Eddie Guerrero died of past substance abuse. he destroyed his inside... back in the day. even though he'd been clean and sober for 4 plus years now... his body still gave up from all that abuse way back when.

Angle's neck has been fucked for a long time. To quote him, he "won an Olympic gold medal with a broken freakin' neck". He's had surgery on it multiple times. His whole body is a mess and he has to take copious amounts of pain killers just to get out of bed.

Both Lesnar and Angle had incredibly successful amateur wrestling careers before they went pro. I don't think MMA is a far stretch for either.

Anyone fighting this beast had better be a striker. I can't wait to see him go for real. He was one of my fav wrestlers.

Wrestling and submission grappling are 2 different things. Just because he can wrestle doesn't mean he can fight. (Though it is admittedly, one of the best starting points.) He still has to be trained properly. A good submission grappler who is unskilled in striking could still beat him IMO. Will be interesting to see though, either way.

Everyone in this thread except Lance69 is an armchair fighter. Myself included.

The word from MFS (Militech Fighting System), Pat Militech is that Brock is gonna be a monster in about a year with continuing training.

The minute any freak from the WWE enters MMA and wins a match it will be the death of an already overly commercialized MMA.

If he sticks to it, he seems to be a guy still searching ... pro wrestling, football now MMA. But with some solid training i'm guessing not too many would seriously want to step into the octagon/ring against him!

Oh, and off the top me thinks striking will be his biggest weakness, if he has stand-up game, watch out.

I agree Kevsh on all counts. Getting hit by Fedor, or kicked by Crocop must be an epiphany of pain.

I don't ever want to find out.

No pain at all... one second you're standing there looking at him, the next second you're on your back looking up at him with no time elapsed in between ;)

Angle probably wants to go MMA to erase the embarassment stain of almost being armbarred by Daniel Puder in a 'tough enough' competition. The ref had to save him.

Angle should do very well in MMA. Everyone to a tee says that he is the most intense competitor they've ever encountered. The guy won an Olympic gold medal with a broken neck for christ's sake!

Lesnar too has an incredible amateur background and he's a monster. However, size doesn't mean everything in MMA. Look at Bob Sapp. The guy is the bigget and most put together human being I've ever seen and he routinely loses in his fights because he doesn't have the same skill level as other fighters (also doesn't have the endurance/cardio).

One thing is for sure with this...if either actually make it to a MMA ring, it's gonna be a huge money-maker.

SxDx,

Have we met? I know the Hawgs, Scott, and I do nothing but talk MMA when we see each other, I'm just wondering if we have met.

Good post, btw.

It's definitely possible that we've met. I've known Scott for a while, but started working at Hundies in March. I've been to the last 3 or 4 trade shows with the Hundies crew.

Thanks Anthony your way to kind.
If Militech is training Brock then I'm sure he'll be very well prepared to step into the Ring/Octagon. No doubts he's a monster, Angle as well, if he stays healthy get rid of bad wrestler habits he could do very well.
People sometimes forget how hard pro wrestlers train, and focusing that drive into MMA could be another Chuck Liddell or Randy Couture in the making.
It's a lot of "ifs" but certainly possible.
