Non-paysite owners, what do you use to manage your pics and movie content?

What software/script do you use to manage/organize all your pictures and/or movies content/library and to keep track of all those 2257 documents?

Stuff we produced is numbered and goes into the server and back ups in the order it was shot.

Stuff we buy in goes under the name of the producer and again numbered in a variation of their numbering.

All content is stored with it's 2257 info which is backed up in an IDs folder which is regularly copied to discs.

And what software you use to keep track of it all?

I built an access db back when I first started in the biz. It's been modified, but still serves the purpose well.

I run a custom cataloguer.

Keeps them organized by whether it is my own licensed content or sponsor provided content. In the case of sponsor provided content also stores what sites it is good for and any aknowledgement text that the sponsor needs when it is used.

Catalogues by niche (grabs the niche out of the folder name if named that way) allows addition of other niches it falls in. Also lets me categorize by hard versus soft.

Ranames the pics to se friendly type names, again grabs the root of the name to use from the folder name or from a custom entered name.

Thumbs and resizes the content and stores it in a predefined directory structure and controls the ftp up to the sites.

Does a bunch of other things too, like storing all my various link codes by sponsor.

I started on it back in 2001 and someday I will actually be able to put a wrapper around it so oter folks can use it

It ain't pretty but it works geat.

How do you go about finding the right content for the right niche/category with just folders by model name?
