Scariest Movie of all Time?

It is that time of year. The scariest movie I've ever seen was Burnt Offerings. You will not watch this movie at home alone at night with alll the lights out. You will be scared to death...Friday the 13th part 2 comes in second. Next on the list is the Evil Dead, what a classic.

Evil dead is certainly not scary. Haha. I talked to Bruce Campbell the other day as he is on a tour promoting his new book. Funny guy - we discussed evil dead quite extensively. Its a B movie comedy, fool.

Now, as far as the scariest movie ever, I remember "The people under the stairs" to be quite scary. Haven't seen it in years so I can't truely vouch for it 100%, but it did scare the shit out of me.

Well, there is difference between a "gore" horror movie and a scary movie.

This one scared the shit outta me when I was a kid. And it's still very frightening..

Invasion of the body snatchers (1978 version) with Donald Sutherland and Jeff Goldblum.

Jaws was one of my favorites - I still think twice about going in to the ocean.
I loved Sixth Sense , not overly scary but very well made.

My favorite horror movie series was Subspecies by Full Moon Pictures

Ahhh if only Charles Band was still making movies

When I was a child there was a movie about a Big assed spider that scared the shit out of me - now that I think about it
I couldnt sleep at all that night

I guess I've just seen too many. The last really shit in my pants scary movie I ever saw was the first in the *Alien* series. None of those other movies you guys mentioned can really scare me. And let's not equate gross-out and gore movies with scary, either. *Evil Dead*? Scary? Are you 8 years old?

Gross-out, unpleasant, not scary. Like *Eraser Head*, I can only watch 15 or 30 minutes of *Elephant Man* before I tell myself, "This is about as much fun as bamboo splinters under my fingernails," and then I switch it off.

Not saying I'm scared by any movies, but the "scariest" relative to each other.

I always thought "Halloween" was the scariest movie (for me anyway). I was like 9-10 when it came out, and the dude LIVED at the end which freaked me out to NO end.. (sigh)

not necesarily the scariest, but damn, that movie fucking sticks with you....
In their day: The Exorcist, Halloween, Friday The 13th (my first viewing, I was 10 years old watching it at a dirve-in with light rain falling....)

As a kid, The Legacy, Burnt Offerings and This House Possessed made me piss my pre-teen pants.....

Ooh, zombie movies...I love zombie movies, especially the Fulci zombies...they never followed the "zombie rules"....hell all Italian horror....watch a good Italian horror flick (Fulci, Argento, Bava) subtitled of course as bad dubbing can really ruin a good foreign horror flick...

If you're looking for sheer gross out and "how much can you take?" cinema, check out the Guinnea Pig series from Japan....that shit will stick with you for a long time....or any Japanese horror...there are so many good original horror flicks out there for those with the balls to rent something subtitled or even just in a foreign language...

I also admit to being frightened of Julia Roberts' big old fucking horse teeth in "Pretty Woman" brrrrrrrrrrrr

SykkBoy2, glad you can agree with me on Burnt Offerings. It has to be one of the scariest I've ever seen. If you all haven't seen it go and rent it. It will scare the crap out of your pants. Thats if your not to ScaRed. One I forgot and haven't seen anyone mention is Carrie. Carrie was scary.
