Adult PPC: Striving, Dying, or...?

I've tried a few Adwords campaigns as of late, and the results have not been that great. I'm usually pretty good at converting (vs getting traffic and what not) so I figured that if I could get good CTR and conversion rates on crappy TGPs surely I could do it using Adwords, but apparently not. My CTR is good but conversions just don't make a profit for me...I usually break even or lose a little.

Is it me or is it getting harder to convert Adwords (and similar) traffic? Have your campaigns' profit margins dropped suddenly, declined slowly, or improved over the last year? I've heard it's getting harder in some areas, but haven't heard much about adult PPC.

This was going to be a big poll, but I made it fairly simple at the last second. Regardless, your participation is valued and opinions are welcomed. Just keep in mind this is regarding PPC from an AFFILIATE standpoint.

BTW, my only experience is with Adwords, if you have a better PPC platform suggestion for me, I'm all ears. Also, I'm open to product suggestion - both mainstream and adult...but don't just spam shit.

My ICQ is 308-743-66nine if anyone wants to converse regarding PPC.

Thanks,
c-lo

I've always hated adwords and prefered Yahoo's Search Marketing (YSM).

Wow, fast reply, Wiredguy.
Interesting comment - for any reason in particular that you're willing to discuss?

Shit, the title of the thread was supposed to be "Thriving, Dying..." not "Striving, Dying...". Oops.

Yahoo is less of a satist when it comes to disabling poor performing ads. Higher PPC's can overcome poor clicks on yahoo, on Google, they want insane rates to overcome poor ctr's. Yahoo's are more reasonable.

google is making less money every qtr from adwords as more and more businesses give up and the rate of new sites launching slows down.

Google will have to stop with their bullshit of disabling ads every 3 seconds for nonsense and place advertisers in regular results on top or else as big as they might be now will see serious declines in ad sales especially in a market where business credit is dead and the economy overall is dying

Surprised you're the only one who said that...

Thanks for the tips and recommendations, everyone. I'll give Yahoo and a few others a try in the near future. I just wanted to get an idea of how everyone else has done.

I've been promoting a dating sponsor and I have an overall conversion ratio of 1:4 (free profiles) but I'm still not profiting. Cam and dating keyword prices are insane and I can only assume tubes have affected PPC conversions for paysites what with PornHub getting more SE traffic than any other adult site.

Truth is I just can't afford to waste money and I'm hoping someone could give me an idea of what works and what doesn't...

Do any of you guys opt in to the content network or do you just do listings on actual google result pages? I meant to ask that earlier...

Thanks.

Well, I do believe PPC is good, yes, and I always love to discuss it. But I didn't even vote the poll so take it easy.

*bump*

So do you guys opt in to the content network or just do placements on the results pages?

In your opinion, is the quality of traffic as good as the clicks you get from results pages?

Thanks!
