Why Move to Vegass?

Just curious.

Are the women looser?
Porn on every street corner?
All the smoke in the casinos?
The climate?
Closer to having Steve Lightspeed fondle your balls?

because it doesnt snow
the sun almost always shines
it's warm here
the sunsets are amazing
it's close to la
and the desert is amazing

lastly outside the city almost all land is blm. that means one can drive through the desert on a dirt road for hours and not have to worry about ending at private property with a gate across the road, then having to turn around.

Because there is no state income tax, which means I can buy a (modest) new car every year with the income that I save over living in Mich.
It doesn't snow.

It's fucking great out here! Nothing like Amsterdam, but probably as close to being "free" in this country as a man can get.

And the area is just beautiful. Everyday when I walk out of my single wide trailer here and climb in my 1973 station wagon (with the wood panel sides), I stop to admire the blue skies and the mountains surrounding us.

And of course it's right above Arizona so I can fondle Steve Lightspeeds' balls anytime I want.

Because you like 150 degree weather?
Because you like looking over your shoulder at all times because of the crime rate?
Because you like paying too much for everything?

Not sure really...

Nevada is probably the best place to incorporate in the entire country. Unless you commit blatant fraud, the corporate veil will protect you from personal liability.

Having lived in southern california my entire life before moving to vegas I have to say vegas sucks as far as weather/people/culture. But there's almost no traffic (compared to LA), no state taxes, less taxes/fees for business owners, and you get a helluva lot more for your dollar when purchasing property. I bought my home at the peak a few years ago, but I'm looking at houses now 6-7k sq feet that are priced at $400k that a couple years ago were priced at $800-900k. But like I said...living in the desert sucks, the dryness and the dirt gets to you after awhile.

I moved here from South Carolina. I was ALWAYS looking over my shoulder there. My house was like a fortress because there are so many rural Meth heads. I literally had people walking like zombies up and down my street at 1 a.m. during the weekdays, and it was NOT a busy street. They were just up to no good.

I had a bad feeling that we were going to be the victims of a home invasion (which happens a lot in small towns believe it or not)

My kids were never allowed to leave the yard to play. No riding bicycles because of cranked up rednecks driving their beat up cars at 100 miles an hour through the neighborhoods.

Now that I'm in Vegas, we live in a gated community. There's a park here and tons of kids for my kids to play with. My youngest is actually riding her bike to school here. It's VERY safe where I live. The safest I've felt in 20 years quite frankly.

And yes, I love the outdoors. And heat doesn't bother me one little bit. I was born and raised in Fla. and I'm a sun king baby.

As far as paying too much...Yeah, if you're a tourist on the strip. Other than that it is CHEAPER living here than in South Carolina. Gas is WAY cheaper. My car insurance is about the same. My power bill is cheaper. Groceries are about the same, maybe even a little less. And drinks are cheaper at the local bars than they were at the redneck dives in the Carolinas.

So to recap: I love the heat, my tan has never been better. I live in a good community....crime is no problem. And it costs less to live here than it did in redneck, backwoods, bumfuck South Carolina.

I'm good!

Even though I have never lived in either location, I can see how you might feel that way. But you haven't lived through a summer there yet. It will be interesting to hear your opinion on the weather (beyond, "that is why we have A/C") next year at this time.

I don't mind the heat at all out here. At XBIZ in the summer here I had no problems at all. I've never liked or used air conditioning. I like fresh air.

The heat here is a dry heat. Living in Fla. and then S.C. for most of my adult life I can tell you that in my opinion it "felt" hotter there than it did here. I guess because the humidity in Fla. and Carolina always made it feel muggy and sweaty.

This past summer I not only was here for XBiz but also flew out 3 different times and spent several days searching for homes. I love the heat.

Right now it's 86 degrees. Granted that's not 110 or 120. But I'm sitting here working in an office with 5 computers running...it's about 10 degrees hotter in this room than the rest of the house. I have the window open and the ceiling fan blowing and I'm very comfortable.

In comparison, this past summer we had temps hit 105 a few days where I was living in S.C. It felt a lot hotter to me than it did at 120 here in Vegas over the summer.

I'm just one of those people that likes it hot. My reasoning for not using air conditioning is that if I use it then my body will adjust to the airconditioned temperature. So if I'm in a buildiing that is 75 degrees...my body will acclimate itself to that temp. Then when I walk outside in 120 degrees...I melt. But if my body is already acclimated to the heat, then it's not so bad when I go outside.

I used to amaze people when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale because I simply lived without running an airconditioner during the day. They would all be sweating their asses off everytime they walked outside...but I'd be standing there in a black leather jacket in 100 degree balmy, muggy weather and be perfectly comfortable.

I do admit to cranking the AC at night when I go to sleep though. Better to hibernate that way.

I remember that too. You could see the snow falling and there were a lot of cars coming in from the west side of town that were covered in snow.

The humidity is a fucking killa.

We can get into the 90's here in MI some summers, but with the 200% humidity it will feel like you are on the face of the sun. But when it's 90's or 100's with dry heat, it really is not as bad. So I can understand.

Unfortunately, for the SW side of MI anyways, humidity typically comes with the heat.

say what you want bad about vegas.sure its hot but i know you're always outside when you're glued to your computers all day and when its winter it doesnt really get that cold. maybe compared to the beach cities, but average is 40's to 50's.we don't have natural disasters, not over congested like somewhere like so-cal,most things are open all night except for offices and such,as for pros and cons compared to alot of other areas pros for vegas outwiegh the cons.

There is always something to do here, and Vegas has some killer restaurants.

I dont care for the nightlife at all, but I love going offroad with my truck, and riding dirtbikes & ATVs thru the desert and mountains. Mt Charleston is only 30 minutes away if you want to ski or snowboard. Lake Mead is 30 minutes away, and Lake Sand Hollow is 2 hours north if you like to scuba dive, fish, boat, jetski or whatever. And only like 4 1/2 hours to LA or the Pacific Ocean if you want to get away for the weekend.

I love vegas becuase all players play and they kind of do not exist so in the real world. they are in the game world. so you have plenty of room for yourself. I think girls are looser too.

Absolutely. If anyone is planning on relocating, Vegas is the place! You'd hate it here. Really.

Once you figure out how to avoid the strip it isn't that bad. That part I have figured out. What I don't know is your cops. I have only had two dealings with them, and both times they were cool. One was very cool. I can't imagine they are all like that all the time.

Like speeding. Do they really have time to mess with that? How fast do you have to be going over the speed limit to get their attention?

The general rule here on driving is that you can do whatever you want, as long as it isnt in a school zone.

That whole no income tax would be enough to make anyone move.

110 degree dry heat is fine, you just jump in the pool every 15 minutes, then jump out and lay beside the pool for 15 minutes, then repeat.... cools off outside at night and a/c works great inside

Yes, you do. In Nevada, the corporate veil has only been pierced for fraud, which is NOT the case in other states.

No, you do not.

You can easily incorporate in Nevada and not have to move here.

Better to hibernate that way.

thats what i do. i sit up here with my computers topless working with no AC - even in the summer. this way i can walk to my truck, hike in the desert, and drive with my windows down and not have a problem. i dont pick up many chicks, but at least i am comfortable ;)

when i went to NY in the summer of 06 it was so hot (80f) humid (65%) it felt like i was in a shower room. i did not like it at all. and to think i spent 25 years there. wtf was i thinking!
