I need software to display a users location. Both in image banners, flash banners and plain text. Example: "for my special sexy fans in [New York City]' Can somebody point me in the right direction ? Thanks !  |

Currently we will just be using it for banners, so no fan signs yet, But even if we user it for banners "Psstt.. boys from Lincoln" will this be all we need ? |

the software from maxmind will provide your server w/ the ability to determine the city / country of the surfer.
adding that to banners etc is another step |

Yeah, it looks complicated. I've noticed there's a PHP API available which should allow you to 'echo' city names to a HTML page.
However (and I am by no means a programmer or techie) I assume it should also be possible to integrate this in flash banners or jpeg images. I am confused, will this work through an API ? Or should you use banner software like for example openAds for this purpose ? Also I'd like to know if you guys update regularly (monthly) or just update once every 6 to 12 months. Not like we can't cut the 90 bucks per month, but I doubt if this is really necessary.. Thanks for all the info ! |
