But Baldwin said it wasn't until last week that investigators uncovered the source of the breach: A piece of malicious software planted on the company's payment processing network that recorded payment card data as it was being sent for processing to Heartland by thousands of the company's retail clients.

So much for rebills... as the card companies cancel old cards and re-issue new ones all over again. Fuck shitty content... this type of fraud is costing us alot more than people realize!

bank sell info and then make all kinds of claims to "how the info was compromised"

Quote:
The Federal Trade Commission today announced a $37.5 million judgment against the operators of at least six Internet pornography sites who billed customers for services they didn't purchase.
sounds legit, until you find out where the numbers came from....

Quote:
According to the FTC, the defendants purchased a list of 3 million credit card numbers from Charter Pacific Bank of Agoura Hills, Calif., and illegally logged charges to many accounts.
Local banks in California selling card numbers to porn site operators, aint that awesome??

http://news.cnet.com/FTC-orders-porn..._3-245439.html

the bank in the original post, even took the time to make a "website" regarding their "breach" LOL

banks cannot be trusted.

I operate as if all my info is already breached anyway because that's the only
way to know what's going on.

Then they weren't following the requirements to be a payment processor. That data is supposed to be encrypted both at rest and in transit.
