SEO domain question- for a 2 word term would you get.net or .com with a dash?

If you were trying to target a two word phrase and you could get the .net domain or the .com domain but the .com had a dash between the two words which would you get to please Google?

I do not want to consider type-in, brandability, other search engines, or anything else of the sort. If you believe Google would have a preference please tell me. Feel free to make jokes that neither would be an option on any good 2 word terms. Thanks in advance!

I'd go with the dash and .com. Any one of them is pretty good though for seo.

very likely that there is no difference to the search engines

the .net and .com part of it is equal the dash is probably equal as no dash because the algorithm is good enough to split keywords up, but the dash will not hurt in any way, and could be a tiny help

I bought a two word .NET and its currently in the top five in Google for its keyword. Without much effort just three linkbacks using the keyword as anchor.

I have a two word hyphened .COM and its not even in the first five pages of Google. That's from my personal experience. |

Get any of the two and incoming links, there isn't much of a difference anyways.

DO your own research. Google something similar and see how many top 30 are listed WIHT the dash and without.

personally, i'd lean towards the .com with the dash. if you have a decent seo strategy i don't think that either would hold a whole lot more value over the other. however a .com always looks better.

It sounds like even the people with a preference aren't sure, get a couple extra links and it will not matter either way. I am glad to hear ".com with dash" most often though because I have much more of them.

in this example, and as stated before, and since you titled this thread "SEO domain question", those two domains would be equal for seo... and what would actually matter more would be age and google trust (and serps and pr if that applied as well) ...... dash domains and .net's don't get much of their value from typein so from a purely SEO viewpoint they are the same and the other factors like age start to matter more ![]()
