How much to hang a 42" LCD

Anyone know how much it should cost to hang a 42" lcd tv. I have the mount and the two HDMI 20' cables. The electricity socket also need to be moved up the wall to behind the tv..

I was guessing $200

something like that....

moving the cables up the wall is the easy part... it's the sweat thats the hard part.....

you need the mount.. some lag bolts and your done.... any reason you want to move everything up... why not just cut in a box behind the tv then run everything down and put a blank plate over the one on the bottom... that would be cheaper

that would work also. not worried about the plates over old socket etc, as it will be behind cabinet where sat. receiver and dvd will sit.

When I bought my 37 inch, Best Buy wanted $500 for a very basic installation. I wasn't even hiding the cables. $500!

I had a friend of mine do it... it took about 30 minutes and he needed an extra set of hands for five minutes at one point. My bracket at the time was like $90.

I hung a 50" Plasma on my bedroom wall myself. Its easy, except for the lifting part, plasma TVs are heavy. But other than that, there really was nothing to it, and my mount is a cantilever.

Go to your local hardware store and get a stud finder, a drill, and a small level. The mount should come with everything else you need.

Just got a quote for $240 sounds reasonable, plus they are insured. This is labour only as I am supplying the mount & cables.

Dude, it's really simple to do it on your own. You just need an extra pair of hands to help hang the tv once you have the mount on the wall.

This site advertises on tv and radio. You should be able to find a reliable & reasonable company:

http://www.angieslist.com/

What you are talking about doing is not as difficult as you think. Maybe ask a couple of your buddies, someone may be able to bang it out for you.

I have the same problem myself. Right now my tv is on it's stand because I just can't get myself motivated enough to do the whole "wall thing"

$240 for one hour of labor

Use the internet to find out how to do it.

if you don't have the common tools needed, borrow some.

Install it yourself and ask a friend to help hold it on the bracket while you tighten it down.

Enjoy your TV even more knowing you hung it yourself.

Take the money saved and put it towards another component like a Blu-Ray player

Use a pass through plate behind the TV and another at the sources and power outlet. fish the cables down the wall (usually pretty simple) and connect them to their sources, outlet. One thing to remember, is place your mount bracket where it's going before installing the pass through plates. Or you could end up covering them unintentionally, also be sure which side of the television your connections are on and make sure the wires will route easily to the pass through plate once mounted. That's pretty much the hardest part. Good luck :-)

Am going with the company that quoted me..

125.00 including the wall plates and romex.

Sounds good to me... my time is worth more than $125 an hour and this way it will actually get done.

Not like the movie posters that spent 9 months sitting on the media room floor because I never got around to hanging them.
