Is FetishFetish.net worth $1,000?

Or am I dreaming with this price....

I registered FetishFetish.net last year and have still not moved to develop it.

I consider it one of my better domain names so would be reluctant to part with it, however I am badly in need of a cash injection so i'm considering all options.

Can people tell me am I being anyway realistic with a $1K+ price tag on this domain?

I'll put you down for the "no its not worth anything close to 1K" so.

On the "not so polite" list too.

.net i understand turns a lot of people off, but i still see .net domains selling for good money on a very regular basis, for a lot less than the .coms yes but still for significant money especially in mainstream.

Its not the .net, although nets are worth typically 15% of their .com equiv, its the repeating keyword. it makes no sense and is something typically done by newbs who don't know any better.

if you had 1000 of FetishFetish.net's it might be work it as a bulk deal. Even then maybe not.

If you like .net

Go register any one of these as they are available for reg fee and better:
fetishcollection.net
fetishnow.net
sexyfetish.net
yourfetish.net

How much did you pay for it?

Not worth $1K either way.

I could go register a word repeated 3 or 4 times and be a good keyword and it wouldn't be worth jack.

theres nothing wrong with .net especially in the adult industry. Most of the typin domains are gone and you need to worry more about something memorable, that makes sense, that has some keywords in it, and that someone would want to click on in link or banner form. Your domaindomain.nets sucksuck.nuts

I would just rethink your strategy especially if you are trying to flip them for sale. it wont work.

How about branding?

How about knowing what you are doing and not needing to "snag" a domain.

If someone is good at branding then they can use "link-o-rama.com" and
succeed.

No one who is good at branding is "actively" looking for two word domains.

Excactly.

I'm not going to say .net is worth nothing either,

Pecking order is what matters:

1. .com
2. .net
3. .org

There is lots of .org and .net domains that rank higher than .coms for certain keywords.

You are 100% right in fact to try to learn more about branding, I went to www.AskJeeves.com which when you search redirected me to search resultes from Ask.com

I wonder why they chose to brand "Ask Jeeves" instead of trying to brand "Ask"... idiots ...

Watch where you throw around your generalizations. Its easier sometimes to brand a phrase as opposed to a single word because a single word often gets mixed up with multiple meanings or honestly it just means too much. Most of the single word brandable names done mean anything at all. google Yahoo alexa etc

Guys register domains and use them... haha although i have a ton, but damnit I have uses for them all and havent tried selling them. (400+ at this point )

Try selling as many as I did then get back to me.

Thanks.

PS. Who the fuck told you that ask.com was an example of "good branding"?
But thanks for tellig me what happens to people who suck at branding.

Ask.com did pretty well with Branding "Ask Jeeves" which was a 2 word.com which was my point. But apparently you missed that. Ive sold 50-60k worth of domains back in 2001-2002, used to appraise for 2 pay for appraisal services, then I learned the value of keeping and developing them. Maybe you've sold more but dont think you are talking to a noob. GL

My take on .net and many others is this,

The more you build it no matter how nice the domain you are always going to have people forget and type the .com meaning that you could end up losing a lot of traffic obtained by promotion/branding and all your hard work.

Just my

That's not true at all.

Two word domains are great and can be easily brandable. Going with one also saves you a LOT of money that can be spent on promotion instead, since there are barely any unregistered one word domains left. I don't even need to post any examples here... just go to Alexa and check out their top 500 and see how many two word domains you find.

If it were fetishfetish.com, maaaaaaaaaaaaybe you'd find a buyer for $1k, but I doubt it. Fetishfetish.net is worth the registration fee and that's about it.

I'll only invest in .net if they are one word and a decent word/name at that.

Move on, let it expire.

other extensions like .net and using hyphens are good if you want the keyword from search engines to send the traffic away. If you want to keep the traffic stick to .com

That wasn't my point.

My point is that if I have the money and branding skills and want to make
a interracial porn site then I don't need to pay $XXXX for interracialsex.com.

I can do the same with :

interracialfuck.com
interracialwhore.com
interracialslut.com
interracialhoney.com
interracialcock.com (Gay )
interracialfornication.com
interracialjocks.com
hotinterracial.com
wildinterracial.com
dirtyinterracial.com......

Why sweat/pay out the ass over a two word domain if they are easy to brand.
Just pick one!
