Anyone here use Netbooks fulltime for work?

I'm really tempted to get a Lenovo IdeaPad netbook. Anyone here use Netbooks for work? I don't do design (I use GIMP for simple image modifications). I just use my PC for browsing the web, email, and Excel. Netbooks robust enough to handle this light load?

Interesting info re netbooks: http://www.computerworld.com/action/...ntsrc=kc_ top

Most run on Windows which is an added bonus.

We have a few Dell and Lenovo netbooks @ work.

They are good machines, but not something you'd want to use for work on a daily basis. Really nice for making quick changes, browsing the web, checking email, etc. I prefer the Lenovo over all the netbooks I've used / seen, because it has a full keyboard.

The screen real estate is just too small for a productive work flow though.

I did used it for a week my hp mininote netbook but problem is that small screen causing me heavy headache so i had to return to ordinary desktop pc.But this problem can be resolved by attaching normal LCD to it but in my case this didnt worked beacuse of some reason clone didnt work only extension. Also what is suck on netbooks they are very slow compared to desktop pc

Thanks for the feedback so far, guys. You're confirming my biggest suspicion--the screen is too small and might cause headaches. Specially if I have to look at it for 16 hours (I work 16 to 18 hours a day).

I just took mine to the office today for the first time, to give it a spin.

I'm not doing anything more than email and CRM stuff through a browser.

I picked up the Dell Mini 9 and loaded it up with OSX. I'm surprised at how well it runs.

It's not just the tiny screen. The keyboard is way too small as well...

The main feature I like about netbooks is the small footprint and portability. I guess plugging in an LCD to address the small screen issue is an option but that cancels the small footprint advantage... Hmmm, trying to figure out a workable plan.

I have an 11 inch laptop and it's too tiny to really work with. It's fine for answering emails and goofing around, but it's not practical for writing or graphics work in general.

for using it fulltime its too small and too slow (they don't play HD movies for example). but for travelling or sitting in the garden it's great. especially the Samsung NC10 i have - the battery lasts for nearly 7 hours

the s10e's arent bad We sell all of the netbooks except the Dells at work. We have the S10E for $299 again it looks like

1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 / 512MB DDR2 SDRAM / 80GB Hard Drive / No Optical Drive - 299

Ideapad S10e Atom N270 1.60GHz 1GB 160GB bg BT WC 6-cell 10.1" WSVGA XPH - 349

Ideapad S10e Atom N270 1.60GHz 1GB 160GB bg WC 3-cell 10.1" WSVGA XPH - 329 (smaller battery)

If anyones interested and wants to run the sale through me, my Lenovo rep would love me for it, might be a way for me to snag one myself omygoshcom At Gmail theres not a lot I can do on pricing, they go out slim, sometimes the $299 is under cost.
