Can anyone identify these spiders? [scary pics]

These were found outside my girlfriend's house. The first one was obviously not liking me pointing my camera at it. Every time I would look at it, it would strike this pose like "don't you dare come near me, mother fucker..." and it would be all twitchy and lightning quick. Both of these were very fast spiders, actually.

Anyway, I have no idea what kind they are. All I know is that they freak me out. The big black one with the turquoise mustache especially.

Sorry for the low quality pics. I don't own a macro lens yet.

some member of the salticidae family. there's a good 5-6000 described species of jumping spider though. most look pretty much the same. narrowing it down isn't going to be easy, but that's where you'll want to start looking...

note: they're harmless

look like common jumping spiders to me

I've seen quite a few, they will jump at you though, never been bit by one, they are kind of cool actually ,they are so fast they can jump in mid air and snag a fly faster than the fly can get away

that turquoise one reminds me of one I saw that made a jump toward me from the wall when I was looking at it, jumped about a foot and a half off the wall toward me which scared the shit out of me cuz it happened so fast and unexpected

i'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say the first pic is a phidippus species

im leaning in the diretion of phidippus audux, but the banding on the legs doesn't look right to me.

also, i'd say pic1 is a female, while pic2 is most likely a male...

where are you located?

the second spider i'm not too sure on, but i'm still pretty sur eit's a male judging by the abdomen..

not so much at the moment, i've kept several species of tarantulas, true spiders, and scorpions in the past though. i always liked the scorpions more. i think at one point i had 15-16 different species of scorpion at once, with 4 or 5 of each species kept for breeding colonies. i do plan on getting back into the hobby again. i just move around a lot with the seasons beign a skibum and all. it's kind of hard to pack a collection around that way. it's hard enough moving around a couple snakes, let alone crates of exotic spiders. i sold most off about a year ago now.

also a real big fan of giant centipedes. i had an old boy , a s. subspinipes that was just over 11 inches long. he was a fuckingbadass. pure killer.. would take down full grown mice...

i know, not your average hobby, but i enjoyed my creepy little critter zoo...

I've squashed a few giant haitian centipedes, but they are tough fuckers. It just isnt funny when you grab your boots in the morning and one comes crawling out, or they get inside your mosquito net and crawl into your cot with you in the middle of the night.

the last shit i'd want is one of those fuckers crawling in my cot

but they are nice to watch in the terrarium. i like keeping a terrarium of sorts at any given time. i'd really like to do up a nice dart frog terrarium, but that's a pretty expensive art in itself, not to mention a pretty delicate one. some day though.

just killed a big motherfucking black widow about 15 minutes ago, I was outside feeding cats and when I was pouring the food a big one went running about a foot from my hand, took three good smacks with a plastic bottle to kill the fucker

a friend of mine got bit once when she put on a jacket that was hanging for a while and it put her in the hospital and she felt like the worst flu for almost a week after

Well, it's because they have 8 eyes. If you had 8 eyes on your head, you'd probably avoid using a comb too.

The second one looks like a standard orb weaver. They build big webs and eat mostly fleas, musquitos and whatever else gets caught in their web. They are actually extremely cool to watch build their webs and eat. It's harmless to humans and gets pretty terrified of us.

Just leave him be and he'll eat up all the annoying airborne critters by the house. Since they are outdoor spiders, you don't have to worry about him coming in the house.

http://www.onemotion.com/flash/spider/

If you don't like spiders you might not want to click that link but it's fun to play with
