Deadliest Catch

OK, I am gonna just put this out there. Not sure if most or some or none are fans, but I seriously really love The Deadliest Catch.

I watch the show weekly and the marathons. Kicks ass.

Anyone? Love, hate, don't care?

Yeah I like it. The Alaska Experiment is pretty good too. They drop like 9 people out in the middle of alaska and see if they can find their way home lol.

I think it's kind of funny how every episode is essentially the same, yet I keep watching and really enjoy it. LOL.

I think it's the onboard fighting that keeps us watching. The "drama."

Ax men I watch yet I have a super strong problem watching the aqua loggers this season. They piss me off so damn much and just will not hurry up and have some sort of major accident that kills someone. I really hate stupidity and that guy takes the cake. Forget about that he is advertising that any idiot who is slightly smarter than him could take over and run him out of business. Since most would be hard pressed to do his job any worse than he does it.

Did opposite for me.
If I knew they were getting more I would be with you. What altered my thoughts was after hearing how much per pound they (ship/crew) get paid per pound and then how much the processors sell it for.

Would be one thing paying them (ship/crew) 20-30 per pound versus paying that retail. They sort of get the short end of the stick.

They don't make crap compared to the end price. Good post.

as a boat captain I can tell you these guys are flat out tough. That's the most dangerous job on earth. I have nothing but respect for how those guys earn a living.

I have been caught in 16 foot seas and let me tell you its not fun in a 28 foot boat...those guys consider 16 foot seas to be pretty calm. add the cold weather and icing conditions and you have a very deadly environment.

ya they make a pretty good paycheck but they earn every fucking dime. Remember their job next time you get pissy because some retarded model flaked on you and you think your day sucked because of it.

I wouldnt do that job at twice the pay they get, it would kill me....I'm way too old

Perhaps for a 15-20 lb crab. I seem to recall them talking around 4-7 bucks per pound for King crab (much less for snow).

I've watched each season. Can't believe what they go through and what the film crew must deal with too.

Several of the guys from those ships live in the Pacific NW. Before the first season of the show, we popped into this rural dive bar. Here's this half drunk gruff looking guy spouting off about being on some new Discovery channel tv show and he's a crab boat captain. Most people in the bar were laughing and he was like "You just wait"

Turns out to be Jonathan Hillstrand of the Time Bandit who lives near there.

That is something I thought about.
Being a king crab fisherman used to be the worlds deadliest job. Apparently being a Discovery channel cameraman on that show is now the worlds most deadly job. They get all of the risk, yet the salary of a film crew.
