Led Zep are the best. Plant's Zep stuff with Allison Krause is amazing.. But I wanna pick things up a bit here:
Not just for the Smokey and the Bandit soundtrack, but tons of other stuff, Jerry Reed is amazing - bring jazz and blues to country the way he did and ON the Grand Old Oprey... godblessim...

I saw John Lee playing with the Cross Country Blues Band, Charlie Musclewhite and Alvin Bishop in Vermont one year... one of the best shows I ever saw.
And here's the perfect follow up to that:

Time for a twin-bill:
Jeff Beck doing the Charles Mingus classic, "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" (I use the same Fender Strat): Followed by another of my favorite guitarists, performing another version of the same tune...John McLaughlin: In 1975, I was able to see Jeff Beck during his "Blow By Blow" tour, with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra touring together in support of their "Dreams of the Emerald Beyond" album (featuring Jon Luc Ponty on violin). At the end of the set, Beck and McLaughlin jammed on "Lila's Dance" - it was magical (the studio version of the Mahavishnu Orchestra performing "Lila's Dance": ADG |

Don't nobody here know the blues? Everybody has the blues sometime - that's why there is Blues Music...
Here's what I'm talking about: Alvin Lee and Ten Years After "I'm Going Home": Check out his version of "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" too! Want more? Okay, here's Cream performing "Crossroads": And how about the Allman Brothers "Whipping Post": Probably the best rock blues axe player of all time, Jimi Hendrix, playing "Red House" at Woodstock: And finally, Jimi Hendrix performing one of my favorite improv jams of all time "Villanova Junction": ADG |

Not sure what to classify this song or guy as, but he's got it. And total ftw on the mouth solo.

I've always loved that track. Obviously blues-based but it deviates from the straight 12-bar blues progression in interesting ways.
I'm not a huge blues guy but I'm familiar with most of the blues-based rock tracks posted. |

Nice to see so many people paying homage to some of the original bluesmen.
Therefore, I would be remiss to not mention the legendary Robert Johnson, who influenced so many guitarists, such as Hendrix, Clapton, Mayall, and Keith Richards. Robert Johnson recording of "Crossroads": Robert Johnson recording of "Love In Vain": The Rolling Stones performing "Love In Vain": ADG |

Back in 1983, I had the opportunity to see three blues rock legends perform together - Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, at a benefit concert for Ronnie Laine (a member of the band Small Faces) - as a result of this thread, I was able to find videos of some of the performances from the show I was at, that night many years ago...THANKS!:
BTW, also performing onstage were Bill Wyman (Bass) Charlie Watts (Drums) of the Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker (Vocals), and Ray Cooper (Percussion), among others... ADG |

Ironically ya can't find but covers of Willie Dixon's great "Can't Judge A Book By Lookin' at the Cover" but at least you can get another master - Bo Diddley plugging his beat in accompanied by the incredible Lady Bo:
