Man claims to be allergic to Wi-Fi

Man Allergic to Wi-Fi, Makes Him Sick, Dizzy, Confused
Friday, July 24, 2009

For Steve Miller a trip downtown is a living hell that makes him sick, dizzy and confused.

Bars make him feel the same and he can't use trains, airports or hotels without experiencing head-banging agony.

But Miller doesn't suffer from some strange phobia. He is allergic to Wi-Fi.

And unfortunately for him ? and the other two percent of the population with electromagnetic hypersensitivity ? the number of people pumping out the wireless internet signal is on the rise.

"I feel like an exile on my own planet," Miller said. "It's almost impossible to find somewhere without Wi-Fi nowadays. If I fancy a pint I have to travel three miles to the only pub in my area that doesn't have it."

Being extra-sensitive to this "electrosmog" has made moving around a nightmare for Miller, as stray signals from neighboring buildings could make him ill.

It has also cost the top British DJ thousands of dollars in lost income.

"I've missed out on loads of European DJ gigs as I can't find accommodation without Wi-Fi," he said. "Most hotels have it, as have all the airports. I can't even catch a train because they have it."

Miller now carries a Wi-Fi detector with him wherever he goes so he can avoid problem areas.

We haven't even really had the time to make an educated study on WiFi radiation yet. Who really knows just what effect WiFi could be having on all of us. i know most of the babble regarding WiFi radiation at this point mostly just adds up to tinfoil hat wearing nonsense, but hey, who knows?

Give me a break... I bet anything that "electromagnetic hypersensitivity" has never been proven and does not even exist. Just because some jerk gets headaches walking into airports and coffeeshops wouldn't mean he's automatically sensitive to Wifi. There are hundreds of other things that both may have in common that could trigger the same thing, that is, IF an external trigger is responsible at all.

Mark ARE YOU SERIOUS???
EMF sensitivty is real. Documented and scientifically proven to alter the natural function of all living cells. Can you not tell you have been affected by it. It affects every cell in your body. Some do not repsond to it well. Some are the canaries who react to what we are all exposed to. Do a little reaseach before you spout off....

I think it is possible... A daughter of my father's good friend is highly sensitive to sounds. She can hear/detect more wider spectrum of sounds than a normal man can do. Because she can hear of all those sounds, that are actually noises, she can't live a normal life. Simple writing on blackboard or paper produces so much sounds that is driving her crazy! She was unable to have a normal life, because of that. Her living space is almost empty room with sound isolated doors etc... to reduce all possible sounds...

Most devices used in the home, office etc, emit electromagnetic radiation of varying sizes, or wavelengths.

Standard light bulbs, light switches, electric razors, toasters, refrigerators etc, are all shooting off EM at a wavelength of 60 hz.

A 60 hz wave, if you could see it, is huge. It's bigger than a skyscraper. This wave is so large (and so weak) that it passes right over you without anything to capture its energy because you (and all of your parts) are too small to even feel it.

Your cellphone, WiFi router etc, all emit Electromagnetic radiation in the 2.5 GHz area. This wavelenth is smaller, but again if you could see the "Wave" of energy, would be about the size of your hand. It passes right past you (and right through you) without making a ripple anywhere. The size of the attena on your router (and on your old cellphone) is the actual length of the wave.

Microwaves are absorbed by molecules that have a dipole moment in liquids. In a microwave oven, this effect is used to heat food. Low-intensity microwave radiation is used in Wi-Fi, although this is at intensity levels unable to cause thermal heating.

Ultraviolet light is another story. It's wavelength is around 10^-8 (10 to the negative 8th power) meters. It is so small some of your Molecules can be affected. UV Radiation is what gives you a suntan, and what kills germs when blacklights are used in places like a butcher shop.

X-Ray radiation is 10^-10 (10 to the minus 10th power) meters. They are so tiny that they pass right through most of your body without hitting most of your atoms in your body unless they are packed closely together. This is why Bones, tumors, muscle etc appear on Xrays but makes the rest of your body virtually transperent.

Gamma Rays are 10^-12th power. Gamma Rays can shake the nuclei of your atoms apart, and damage the building blocks of new cells, creating cancer, and of course, turn you into the Hulk.

Microwave ovens are DESIGNED to cook food by vibrating water and other polarized moecules within food. They have high-voltage transformers and a vaity magnetron to convert very high voltage into Microwave radiation. All of this is sealed in what is essentially a Faraday cage which stops the radiation from leaking into the environment.

Your cellphone, Wifi router, and ALL of the other electromagnetic radiation in your house does not even come close to producing the same amount of energy that your microwave oven does.

I think sensitivity to electronic devices and standard household and enviromental EMF Radition is bullshit.

For sure there's something wrong with the guy, but I'm pretty sure its not the electronics around him.

I've never heard of an alergy to water, however even this makes more sense to me than an allergy to wifi.

Bullshit.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/en... ids=15784787

Quote:
RESULTS: Thirty-one experiments testing 725 "electromagnetically hypersensitive" participants were identified. Twenty-four of these found no evidence to support the existence of a biophysical hypersensitivity, whereas 7 reported some supporting evidence. For 2 of these 7, the same research groups subsequently tried and failed to replicate their findings. In 3 more, the positive results appear to be statistical artefacts. The final 2 studies gave mutually incompatible results. Our metaanalyses found no evidence of an improved ability to detect EMF in "hypersensitive" participants.

CONCLUSIONS: The symptoms described by "electromagnetic hypersensitivity" sufferers can be severe and are sometimes disabling. However, it has proved difficult to show under blind conditions that exposure to EMF can trigger these symptoms. This suggests that "electromagnetic hypersensitivity" is unrelated to the presence of EMF, although more research into this phenomenon is required.

Quote:
This review showed that the large majority of individuals who claims to be able to detect low level RF-EMF are not able to do so under double-blind conditions. If such individuals exist, they represent a small minority and have not been identified yet.

But like you said the Standard Microwave Oven has its radition contained in a faraday cage. Whereas the wifi and cellphone radation is uncontained.

Im not a buyer really in the fear of emf from these products. But I must admit when my wife was pregnant I did keep the cell phone away from her stomach.

And Ive always been a bit weary of people who ALWAYS keep cell phones in their pockets next to their balls day in and day out, week after week and year after year.

I personally try to keep the cell phone away from my balls for extended periods of time and go out of my way to keep it on a desk and not in my pocket touching my balls.

Paranoid? Maybe just a little.

But there have been sudden spikes in unknown cancers and tumors over the years.
Who knows. It may or may not be related. There have been so many environmental changes over the years and emf is just one of them.
