How to free up memory on Windows Vista?

Are there any programs out there that will delete/disable programs that do not always need to be on when using windows vista? Something that will free up memory? I know this bitch Vista takes up 2 gigs just on idle but I have heard there are things that will help it run on less? If you know of anything, or have any advice it would be apreciated. At the moment I have 4 gigs of RAM/memory.

I do not use many large programs other than filezilla, I dont even run photoshop anymore..

Easiest and MOST EFFECTIVE way to increase Vista system performance.

Install Windows 7.

Are you using 32 bit or 64?

If 32, then you can never get access to all 4GB of ram -- and even then, you have to enable the 3GB switch.

http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/mic...tch-vista.html

Switch to 64 bit OS, if you haven't already. Its the best move you can make. Trust me, once I did it, I knew I could never go back. I have 12GB of ram on my main computer, and sometimes thats not even enough.

Downloads will be available until August 20, 2009. After that, you can still install the RC and you can get a product key if you need one.
#

Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You'll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. (Learn more about installing Windows.)
#

Protect your PC and data. Be sure to back up your data and please don't test the RC on your primary home or business PC.

CYA IN 2010 lol

think about that
