SEO GURUS >> question

how does one go about trying to listings with and affiliate code in googles generic search results ie not in the adwords links on the right but in the main search results.
its a listing just the affiliates link code directly to the site, not to a seo page/site that links to the site.

i think google doesnt have paid listings in the main results so that would mean its not paid? right?

i see this in yahoo also but i think they have paid results mixed in so its possible its paid spot.

i see it regularly an most but cant seem to figure it out and its drivin me a little batty!

Google has scripts that strip affiliate codes.. simple as that.

They also will strip it if you own the site and ask nicely.

The affiliate page has authority as the most important page on that domain (for those keywords), while the domain itself benefits from all the links into it, there is no true authoritative page there. They want to rank the root index, but its not hard to show them that another page is more authoritative, often it will happen by accident, but other times they are targeted out.

They don't control it but they do get paid for each sale that comes from the page.

You dont need to own a site or page to rank it in the engines, you just need enough link weight or power to send it up.

google: big tits round asses

based on that the owner of the first link has more "link power" than the domain which is pr7? suppose its possible but thats a steep mountain to climb!

That domain may have a PR 7 but that referral link has more authority. Not sure how else I could explain it.

You can get a PR7 rank from having thousands of links from non authoritative web pages, but that will not guarantee you any serps. You still need to back up those non authoritative links with some authority and show them that you are indeed the most important page for said terms.

Think of it like this.

Quote:
Google goes to a 'big tits round asses' party, there is 10,000 people (sites/pages) there, basically all the 'big tits round asses' pages and websites are having a shindig. Soon as they walk in Google starts to browse around, and ask people (sites) where all the 'big tits round asses' are.

Several of the people/sites/pages refer to www.bigtitsroundasses.com, but none of the sites/people are really anybody google knows, so they remember, but aren't really convinced 100% that its the right place. So they continue along, going threw the whole party (niche relevant web) and asking around for 'big tits round asses'.

Then google bumps into someone they have known for years, someone they go way back with, this person/site/page has some authority and trust built into it. When google talks (spiders) them they see that they have recommended www.bigtitsroundasses.com/referralcode/ as the place for big tits round asses.

Suddenly the site that maybe hundreds of lesser known sites has been also recognized by a trusted site, as I say authoritative, and has been told that the referral page www.bigtitsroundasses.com/referralcode/ is the page it wants. Now its official, and confirmed, not only have random, lesser known people tossed their vote/link in but a trusted authoritative site has anchored home the fact that this site/page is indeed the best place for 'big tits round asses'.
Right now, the domain has tons of links, but the referral link has more authoritative links to it. So google is ranking it accordingly. The referral links inbound to that domain are what give it its high PR, and every single link to that domain (from all affiliates) increases the value of the most authoritative link. So every link added by anyone will in effect help that guys referral link codes power.

How do you do it?

Get into that party, and bring your own 400 friends (sites/pages), and make sure to get authoritative links, there is very few that are easily usable, most times you will need to create or build your own authority. It sounds simple in theory, but a little harder in practice.

I've got so 'tech' (possibly could be mistaken for stingy) with how I push out my link power that usually simply linking up a sponsor on a few sites gives me serps due to the strength of link and trust associated with the sites I'm working with. The company in your sig is good example. I only added a Ulust link on 3-4 sites

Wait, wasn't it Matt Cutts that said affiliates must link to sponsors using a redirect or any other mechanism that would make the link non-spiderable? Didn't he even make a video about this? I thought he once said during a presentation -or on his blog- that affiliates should use a particular directory for the affiliate links and disallow that directory in robots.txt.

Does this mean that now Google likes affiliate links? I am confused.
