![]() Hi all ... who's seen the new incentives being offered by Chile to try and get Tech Entrepreneurs into the country ?
The Chilean government has put together an incredible slate of incentives for technology-based companies that export their products. The government wants you to invest $500,000 over 5 years, but is pretty flexible about how you do this. So what do you get for your $500,000? To start with, they?ll give you a visa. You can stay as long as you want ? even permanently. You need to submit a business plan but you have a lot of latitude for what?s an acceptable business. Any type of high tech products, medical or biotech products, or green or cleantech products get the stamp of approval, as does software or even online gaming or social network software. ... But first, you want to check out the country, right? The government will give you 60% of your due diligence costs, or up to $30,000, to visit and explore Chile. And they?ll grant you another $30,000 to launch your company in Chile. If you work from one of their tech centers, the government will pay for 5 years of rent (up to $1 million) or split the costs if you want to locate elsewhere in this gorgeous country. How about workforce incentives? Chile has you covered. The government will pay you (as an approved entrepreneur) up to $25,000 for the first year of ?training costs? for any locals you hire. By the way, Chile has some excellent engineering schools so it?s not terribly difficult to pick up a good Java or C# programmer. They typically make $15,000-30,000 per year ... What do you guy's think of the incentives ? Does anyone have any experience working / living in the country ? And most importantly, does anyone know how 'liberal' and/or supportive the Government / Legislation of Chile is of the Adult Industry ? |

No first hand knowledge but I did do a little a little searching around and came across the U.S. State Dept's page on Chile and it does confirm some of the incentives offered to businesses relocating there. Obviously no mention of adult biz tolerance and I couldn't find anything that related to that in my searches.
http://www. state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/1981.htm Look under the "Economy" sub heading about half way down that page for info on the incentives and other need to know info about the country's current situation. This site has info from the Foreign Investment Committee of Chile http://www. foreigninvestment.cl/english/general/politicas.asp Under the "sevices" tab in the top bar navigation is a list provided for purpose of informing foreign investors of the availability in Chile of a wide variety of attorney offices and legal consulting firms, which could be helpful in their process of investing in Chile. Might be worth contacting one of them for some solid advice re: the laws concerning adult material and doing biz there. Sure sounds tempting tho doesn't it? |

Your goal should be thinking about building and running networks. Covering the whole administration side. Just my gut sank when you posted this, it could turn out to be a tube haven and have the government help pay for it. ![]() I know the country is damn beautiful, the idea of a major quake would still have me shitting bricks and would be one of the few things that would turn me off. Well that and they have some strange ass weather. I mean they actually have places where they know it has not had any measurable amount of rain in centuries. Yeah I watch a lot of documentaries about places and such. Some people down there are super green, and that whole idea has really stuck especially with the younger generations. They are also a reemerging society so to speak, since our lovely CIA and Government really fucked them hard and deep. The fishing industry is fucking huge. Grown even more since they learned from their first farming mistakes which almost caused a major catastrophe in their oceans, which too are very weird themselves. I also know major pieces of land can be scooped up. Lots of it has been and often by conservationists. Between the heights, the lows, and well the cold I think it would be out of the question for me - plus even though I am born and lifelong California resident, their earthquakes have me very worried and they are more due for a big one than we are and their big ones and ours are very different. If not for tech/admin, that place is prime for green type business's. Plus they have serious exporting already in place and quick too - understand that so much fish comes from there. Actually I am going to pass this onto my father. He has been wanting to move to south America for some time now and run a business.

Also keep in mind besides that they speak Spanish (Spain), they do have a heavy German and Croatian population and influence. If memory serves they also only have had their democracy back for the last 19-20 years. Pretty sure their legal system is built on the French/English system though with more emphasis on French. (no idea how the French legal system works or views such things). Porn wise I would be more concerned with local justice over legal crap. Pretty damn sure that would keep me from using them for porn itself, unless it was not in front of the camera.

Not sure how alot of people think this is untrue. We have something similar here in Canada, I don't know about all of Canada. But atleast here in B.C - I don't know the exact details but very similar.
