Same here no problems on two of my WD drives.

Seagate ran slow and problems then finally died, they have been having problems ever since they moved their production into a different country. Forgot where I read this but lots of drive errors and DOA drives

odd... every single WD I've owned has died and every single Seagate is still kicking

WD seems to last just under 2 years, the Velociraptor about 1 1/2 years. I had a head crash on my last Velociraptor. I think a 1TB drive is unreliable regardless of brand...

I picked up 4 1TB WD Black editions and have had no problems. Before I load them up with anything, I always run a full error check and they've come up clean every time. Back in the summer I picked up two 1TB Seagates because they were on sale and both BRAND NEW were filled with bad sectors, so I returned them within a week.

There's no difference in reliability between Seagate and WD.

WD recently released the 2TB Black and 2TB RE4 (not RE4-GP) drives... if you hunt around you might be able to find these somewhere. Both are 7200RPM whereas the Green/RE4-GP ones are 5400RPM. The newer models also have some extra features such as a dual head seek mechanism: this does a coarse seek like a normal drive, then an additional fine seek which can move faster than a full head servo mechanism can.

Brand or model really has nothing to do with failure rates. Anyone with 1TB of data they don't want to lose certainly shouldn't be putting their faith in a brand name.

A particular model may fail faster, which just means you lose your data sooner. ALL drives will fail at some point. Backup, backup, backup.
