NetBooks
Hey guys I was just wanting to see what your thoughts are on the new NetBooks out is. I have looked at some of the acers with the 1.6-2.0G processors and wasnt sure if they could run very many programs on them.
Does anyone use any of the ones out there with good results? TIA |

I have the asus 1005ha and it fucking rocks. Advertises 8 hour battery life and I get a good 6 or 7 at least out if it. Cost me only 330. Definitely recommend it.

thanks guys for your recommendations I was looking at a couple at walmart last night. Do you think I should get the Win7 one or classic XP. I am wanting one so I can sit down in the family room or theater room and update my websites without having a full laptop on my lap. do most of them take standard laptop memory or is proprietary to netbooks and expensive? I have looked at some reviews but a bunch of em looked the same and canned not real people using them.
or would it be a better idea to just build a fast desktop for $300-350 and just mount one of my 15 monitors next to me and use my mini diNovo keyboard? decisions decisions |

If you're going to hook it up to a mouse and keyboard, just build yourself a cheap desktop.
I love my Netbooks (Dell Mini 10v and Vostro A90) but they don't do much more than email and internet browsing (or run OSX) well. |

Win 7!
It's been proven to drain the battery less in virtually every aspect(video playback, music playback, etc) than XP and Vista.

I got the HP dv2-11xx series.. 12.1" @ 1280x800.. 1.6ghz, 2 gb ram
love it.. only bad thing is it came with Vista.. but it works just great it's small, not quite as small as a netbook - but a lot smaller and lighter than an ordinary laptop

Yeah. But I needed something handy to actually have in my lap. Had the dv5 *something* prior to this one and it was quite heavy in comparison. I don't use the laptop for real work, just mail, icq and surfing and such.

I'll be getting this netbook (they [Acer] classify it as a "notebook") before my next trip.
