I find it sad for her either way. Do not like that she will just become more fodder and ammo in the crazy debate though. Yes I do not think most people should rush in for an H1N1 shot unless they are high risk. I am however otherwise pro vaccine.

On a more personal level right now I can not even secure a regular damn flu shot, let alone a H1N1 version even if I wanted to. To add more insult to injury, after talking with the nurse I have coming in once a day right now who also works hospice every weekend.
Well I learned that they no longer permit the hospice nurses from bringing such shots to the patients, however they must take them themselves when they are available. So the hospice patients will have to visit a clinic or wherever to get one. At the same time due to tighter pharmacy rules, hospice patients and home bound people like myself have a very hard time getting narcotics to the pharmacy and home. Doctors can no longer call or fax them in, and many places require the patient to drop them off or pick them up.
Oh the no more shots thing is because insurance will not pay for it anymore. Not the actual shot, the sending it home with nurses.

First thing to note: it's suggested that she got the flu from the flu shot. However, the flu shot causing the flu is impossible. First thing to note: it's suggested that she got the flu from the flu shot. However, the flu shot causing the flu is impossible. Unlike some other vaccines (including the nasal spray flu vaccine), the flu shot contains killed instead of merely attenuated viral particles. Those trigger an immune response which can cause some mild flu-like symptoms for a day or two, but they cannot cause the flu. Ever. Second thing to note: she says she came down with the flu ten days after the flu shot. Any flu-like symptoms caused by the flu shot would have occurred much, much sooner, since the body reacts quite quickly to what it identifies as pathogens. So whatever the cause of her symptoms, the flu shot is an exceedingly unlikely suspect. Third thing to note: her symptoms are atypical for dystonia, and she's actually being used as an example of psychogenic dystonia by neurologists teaching residents. GF gets all the shots, takes all the pills, gets her flu shots and she is ALWAYS sick but I dont and am always healthy ... go figure.
