The bottles... or the sunlight passing through the bottles.... it would be cool if they showed this at night.... but this is nothing more than a sunroof in a bottle.

It looks like it basically just focuses the sunlight into the dark rooms during daytime.

That's so good an idea! Very cheap and at the same time very efficient.

Bump for it!

You turn on the lights. This is obviously just a daytime solution, but could easily cut down on half of your energy costs.

I can't imagine too many people need "lighting" during the daytime though. So probably pretty pointless for most people...

They said it does not leak, so I imagine the sealed around the edges where they inserted them into roof's.

Had seen those before and at first was sort of what I was thinking when I clicked the thread. Was thinking about getting some installed. Have you had any leaks or other issues?

We have some areas of the house that I just hate using the lights in during the day time.

So I start threads about membership sales, threads that include big boobie girls, conspiracy stuff, tube threads, political threads, food threads, and more... but the stupid 50 watt coca cola bottle bulbs thread is the one that gets continuous attention and bumps?

Yeah, that makes sense...

quite useful in a shed with no electricity, or in a warehouse.

that's the best part.

Remember when he talked about the photovoltic cell cap on the top - that's where all the technology begins!

it has an automatic built in slow dimming feature so you can goto sleep at night in a perfectly dark room!

and in the morning it slowly gets brighter to wake you up naturally so as not to YANK you out of a deep sleep like an alarm clock does.

No it would not do better. That is why it has people like engineers interested. Also why that those sun lamp inserts that DBS.US spoke of are popular. The combination of the bottle's shape, and the water inside of it seems to intensify and radiate out the light.
A hole in the ceiling would just let sunlight into the building and at a weird angle as the sun moved across the sky. I am sure you have seen a hole in a roof of a shed or something before haven't you? It just turns into a beam of light that moves across the floor and wall as the sun moves.

Sleazydreams, the film cap has nothing to do with dimming or whatever you were talking about. The film canister which is nothing more than a black plastic container that used to hold a roll of film in it, just provides protection to the plastic two liter bottles plastic screw on cap from the suns UV light. Since the sun would cause it to both fade and weaken. This way since the cap is covered, the cap would take the damage over the years and the cap would remain fine.

czarina, no hope for him. Already in wide use, and on youtube. Plus he seems happy enough that he got the towns credit.
