Google will eventually target websites bassed on your IP
Google will eventually target websites that are based on your IP so say you are looking for a resturant it will bring up the nearest one to you and you dont even have to be logged in
the question that was asked was "Google is currently showing local results for generic terms (such as "restaurants") even when you don't specify a town/city. Is Google going to start displaying different results based on the location of the IP (even when logged out)?" So what happens when you search for porn ..it will bring up the nearest porn site to you ![]() anyways here is the reply https://youtube.com/user/GoogleWe...15/-4G0MahBMpQ |

its not a bad idea, but im sure they will have a list of what is local and what is not.
personally i think it would be a great thing for them to do. considering they are getting a lot of heat from Bing TV ads, they need some help.

This combined with some quality local domain registering, and landing pages (I like wordpress) make for real easy money if you are looking for a fairly simple mainstream project. And as the engines move more towards geo (we have to assume they all will eventually, its logical) this will become even more valuable.
25 to 50 clicks a day for 'manchester barbers' isn't really worth shit to most of us, but to any of us/you webmasters living in Manchester (or near) this is easy money as you could easily find a barber/stylist who would pay well (and love) to have 25-50 leads a day. {manchesterbarbers.com Available) It's a fairly old way to make money, but its pretty wide open when you branch it down to your own area, and makes selling the leads or 'leasing' the webspace and traffic pretty easy. You are matching up perfect traffic for these businesses who naturally want more business.

Nearest location... interesting. That feature should only be turned on if users wanna bother with that. I think the default should be google without that feature. Because, who cares about the location of the websites, not me.
