I failed just as big as you did at a off line business. I had this crazy idea to buy tons of cheap silver jewelry, rent out rooms in antique stores and sell it. Great idea as the antique stores would sell it for me, take 10% then I just restock the rooms. I can't tell you how many hours of labor me, my wife, and my daughters put into this. I think I invested close to 200k into this. Display cases, display things for rings necklaces etc I have so much shit in my garage from this it's not even funny. About 150k was invested into the jewelry itself. Well as soon as I had 3 rooms set up guess what happened? Economy went to shit. Right now as I post this my daughter is sorting the jewelry so we can knock out the valuable stones and take 150k of silver jewelry to a smelter where I'll be lucky to get 40k for the sliver itself after they melt it all.

As others have said prove me wrong man, I wished you could but in my opinion no matter how you skin this cat it's not gonna pur, ever. Scrap it now, cut your losses and go on with your life man.

I agree and have said as much to him... his response was that I was a troll that never made any money. When I would bet I've made more than him and sure I still do make more. Everything I posted to him, which was good advice went on deaf ears... there is no point arguing with him, this project doesn't have a chance as it is especially on a low budget. He really needs to shoot his own content to have a chance.

I've failed at several projects in the past. I value feedback and I learned the hard way to get lots of feedback before you start a project. I don't care who it is from if it makes sense. I don't know which bros told him that this site was great and he would do well...

hard to imagine people really think that, perhaps they just don't want to make him sad by saying the truth and instead tell him what he wants to hear.

Will, you generally give good advice, and I am sure that this case is no exception, but if you want people to take you more seriously, you have to stop taking yourself SO seriously.

You don't like the concept or the site, and don't think it will make money. It's your opinion. Others disagree, which means they are idiots or bro's right? Wrong.

You do this in many threads, the original camgirls thread being a prime example, whereby because your opinions fell on deaf ears you resorted to personal abuse of the guy (which remember was BEFORE his issues became known) and there have been others, but I am too lazy to go on a quote fest for you.

It's great that you take time to give advice to people, but remember they are under no obligation to take it, and if they decided to invest THEIR money in something then they have the right to do it the way they feel is right.

We already know sleazy has limited resources in his present situation so to get ANY site off the ground, let alone a seemingl original one, even with less than perfect content, is an achievement.....especially as he still finds time to post almost constant crap here

This is not a personal attack on you, but if you see it that way, up to you. I am actually trying to help you in the same way you try to help others. You "having 10 years cam experience and being available for consulting projects" makes me as a camsite owner a potential client for you, but regardless of how smart you may be, I think you come over as someone only open to his own opinion, which I don't think helps you find opportunities.

If this were a brick and mortar store this is how it would work:

You'd be walking around outside on the street and you'd see a sign on a store window that says "Free Candy Canes". You walk in to the store thinking "Cool I get a free candy cane." Next, you are bopped on the head by an anorexic Russian woman wearing an oil stained mechanics coverall using a foam mallet. She giggles, and then pushes you down into a large teacup that has a stool in it. You land on the stool and a door closes to the teacup.

Now you spin around in circles in the store on a track, where you see stuffed parrots, a gazebo with a BBQ in it which is cooking what looks like mutated donkeys. You spin more and strobe lights and blacklights and laser shows nearly give you a seizure and stroke at the same time. A smoke machine blarts a smelly odor your way, while you are tipped upside down. At the end, your teacup smashes into 100 pieces and you fall onto the floor, cutting your elbow.

MetaMan I AM WEB 2.0 Industry Role: Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 28,682	Honestly the design is bad. and i mean real bad. media and real life are being blended more than ever, you need to stand out to convert, people expect nothing but the best now or it doesnt even get a blip and register with them. it is not agressive at all. :\| everyone is going out of business because they are throwing up the same crap. the same crap stopped converting years ago. you people as usual wont listen and fail then wonder why always remember: "you can have a shitty product with an amazing image and sell it. you cannot have a shitty image with a good product and sell it." the idea has merit but scrap the entire design. i do this all day everyday i can tell by just looking if it converts. You walk in to the store thinking "Cool I get a free candy cane." Next, you are bopped on the head by an anorexic Russian woman wearing an oil stained mechanics coverall using a foam mallet. She giggles, and then pushes you down into a large teacup that has a stool in it. You land on the stool and a door closes to the teacup. Now you spin around in circles in the store on a track, where you see stuffed parrots, a gazebo with a BBQ in it which is cooking what looks like mutated donkeys. You spin more and strobe lights and blacklights and laser shows nearly give you a seizure and stroke at the same time. A smoke machine blarts a smelly odor your way, while you are tipped upside down. At the end, your teacup smashes into 100 pieces and you fall onto the floor, cutting your elbow. The Anorexic Russian slaps you, smiles and then says "Okay, how much do you want to buy?" You reply with "What the hell just happened?" She refuses to answer you, and only gets aggressive "Don't fucking come here unless you're ready to buy!" and then shoves you outside onto the street, where is has begun to rain and you are in shorts and flipflops. Soaking wet you go home pissed off and tell your friends what happened and they say "That makes no sense.
