Tube encode specs? Bitrate, resolution, etc?

I've never seen it been discussed what the bitrate of FLV embeds for tube sites are. I know it's something insanely low but I'm not sure what the bitrate is exactly.

And what is the resolution?

Also of concern is what the exact format is... is it actually an FLV? Or could it be an MP4... being an "FLV embed" because it's played within an FLV player?

And are these specs actually standardized yet? Every tube site is different from what I can tell, and all the videos look like shit... but I've never seen any of these questions answered anywhere yet. I've not seen a spec sheet anywhere.

Is it recommended that I get separate hosting for the hosted videos? Should I get a dedicated server for this or would a virtual private server be fine? And how long should the videos be to have optimal results? The 15+ minute videos I see out there are nothing short of fucking insanity so I won't be going that route, but in terms of 30 seconds or a minute... what is more effective in terms of CTR and overall sales?

I seen some flash player encoders stream both. For example Kaltura delivers mp4 into a flash container. I think the average bitrate would be around 128kbs at 25-29 fps.
