Please Give Donations to the Victims of Haiti

Text "Yele" to "501501" to donate $5

Please Text "Yele" to "501501" to donate $5 to the victims and families who need your support greatly after the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti.

The $5 will be charged to your next cell phone bill. We all spend $5 on crap every day, it's the least we can do for people who REALLY need this money. http://www.yele.org

Maybe you should check out the website and who it's owned by, maybe a little fact checking before making such a dumb comment.

You also might want to turn on the news and have the website and same message pop up in your face on every major news station.

Fucking retard.

You are on the internet... verify its legitimacy before sending the text message, or walk 2 feet to your TV and turn it on. You will see the same message.

Don't understand why you people would make stupid comments without checking it out first.

Turn on the TV to any major news channel, this is Wyclef Jean's charity. Verify it's legitimacy here: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/impact/?hpt=tv ~ it's on the list...

I was at the yele website just hours after the earthquake happened and I don't know, cnn says they are legit, but I just can't bring myself to agree. Something just doesn't feel right.

So donate here: https://re.clintonfoundation.org/SSLPage.aspx?pid=3742

I donated to both places. yele is maxed out at $30 per phone number, Clinton's foundation there is no max, but minimum of $25.

you don't have to donate to this particular charity, go to the list in my post above provided by CNN and use whichever you feel most comfortable with. All the money is going to same place!

Before stating that, read this: http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/j...TRY=1&SRETRY=0

It states clearly the men gained penis size during this clinical study. You just sound foolish when you say it doesn't work.

i would give $5 towards overthrowing the govt, but not for this...

1/2 the money that gets donated will never see the people it's intended for..

Haiti is as corrupt as they come...

You can also text "Haiti" to 90999 to give $10 to the Red Cross.

They say:

"100% of the donations will go to support the Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti.

An average of 91 cents of every dollar the American Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs."

Read the post above you. And Yele is a charity ran by Wyclef Jean, I highly doubt he is pocketing any money besides expenses, Haiti is his life and he is rich as hell... but I guess you never know.

Ok sorry bro, I guess it is real, but they should make it look legit. Looks like those bogus donation sites that were put up after 9-11.

ok, now Yele seems even more scammy, THIS is what Yele.org resembled the night of the earthquake, so 2 days ago(add photos etc as way back machine doesn't archive them) and now they have completely changed their look to look "more" professional. Nope I am not buying it. I say find another charity to give to.

* People who want to help those affected by the Haitian earthquake can make a donation to the American Red Cross International Response Fund at Redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.

* The Red Cross is also receiving money through a third party mobile fundraising effort sponsored by Mobile Accord. Mobile donors can text “Haiti” to 90999 to send a ten dollar donation to the Red Cross. The funds will go to support the Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti.

if this isnt the case then wyclef's honesty or wealth has little to do with preventing fraud..

GREAT answer.... I am tired of the US always having to come to other countries aid.. We have enough problems of our own to deal with..

However, if Haiti was to allow us to install a government of our choice, then I am all for helping them out... Or if Haiti would volunteer say 25,000 of their people to go fight in the middle east, then I am all for helping them out...

it reminds me of when the phillipines wanted all US bases off their island and then a volcano hits and they are like "please come help us"... and then had the balls to say we reacted too slowly...

Montreal has become little haiti? Seriously? Come to Florida. I use to work with a lot of Haitians, they were always very nice and were always working, never late late, never absent.

I have a bunch of friends that are freaking out over this situation, they can't get in touch with their mother, brother, sister, etc. They are trying to get out on the earliest flight over there.

I remember donating money for the Tsunami victims years ago. Then a year later finding out on the news that alot of the money was never used.

I am all for supporting people in crisis and I do so, but would give more if i KNEW for certain that my money was all going to the victims. Media hasn't been very good at following up on that.

Not sure how he's going to go 'buy' the stuff - but he did 'roll down' to Haiti, with his wife and other family members and they are getting down and dirty helping with picking up the dead bodies off the street. His cry for help to the international community is to get them help fast because there are people in the collapsed buildings that may very well be alive, but they don't have the equipment or resources to get them out. While most media is reporting 100,000 dead or missing - he thinks is far more than that, more like 300-400k.

I know it's much easier to be skeptical in a case like this, in fact, most are going to try to benefit their own pockets, but I think he's always been in a class of his own when it comes to his loyalty to his roots.

I made my donation to the Canadian RedCross designating the funds to the Haiti Earthquake - here's the link http://www.redcross.ca/article.asp?id=000043&tid=016

I already made a donation. The Red Cross seams to be best charity at the moment, to date too.

JANUARY 14--The Haiti earthquake has already triggered hundreds of thousands of donations to musician Wyclef Jean's charitable foundation, which expects to raise upwards of $1 million a day in the disaster's wake. However, Internal Revenue Service records show the group has a lackluster history of accounting for its finances, and that the organization has paid the performer and his business partner at least $410,000 for rent, production services, and Jean's appearance at a benefit concert. Though the Wyclef Jean Foundation, which does business as Yele Haiti Foundation, was incorporated 12 years ago--and has been active since that time--the group only first filed tax returns in August 2009. That month, the foundation provided the IRS with returns covering calendar years 2005, 2006, and 2007--the only periods for which it has publicly provided a glimpse at its financial affairs. In 2006, Jean's charity reported contributions of $1 million, the bulk of which came from People magazine in exchange for the first photos of a pregnant Angelina Jolie (the actress reportedly directed that the publication's payment go to Jean's charity, not her personally). As seen on the following pages from the foundation's 2006 tax return, the group paid $31,200 in rent to Platinum Sound, a Manhattan recording studio owned by Jean and Jerry Duplessis, who, like Jean, is a foundation board member. A $31,200 rent payment was also made in 2007 to Platinum Sound. The rent, tax returns assure, "is priced below market value." The recording studio also was paid $100,000 in 2006 for the "musical performance services of Wyclef Jean at a benefit concert." That six-figure payout, the tax return noted, "was substantially less than market value." The return, of course, does not address why Jean needed to be paid to perform at his own charity's fundraiser. But the largest 2006 payout--a whopping $250,000--went to Telemax, S.A., a for-profit Haiti company in which Jean and Duplessis were said to "own a controlling interest." The money covered "pre-purchased...TV airtime and production services" that were part of the foundation's "outreach efforts" in Haiti. No further description of these services was offered, though the return claimed that "the fees paid are below market" and that the use of Telemax was the "most efficient way of providing these services." The group's tax returns also report "consultant" payments totaling $300,000 between 2005-2007, while the 2006 return reported nearly $225,000 in "promotion and PR" costs. These line items are not itemized further in the IRS returns. (6 pages)

The people who run charities make money. The IDEA of it may still be solid (87c+ per dollar used directly for the charity and 13c for overhead or whatever) but someone always makes money.

In cases like this, Wyclef is going to come out with a nice chunk of change.

Gee, I'm hurt. I better go slit my wrists now, or maybe you should since the big bad world is making you feel bad?
Also, get a sense of humor. No need to give attitude for a pointless comment I made, boohoo, it was so vulgar I ought to be banned.
