Millions and millions for Net porn

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Web users subscribing to online pornography sites paid as much as $800 million this year to ogle photos or download movies and audio files.

A report by the National Research Council estimates between 2 million and 8 million subscribers to such sites paid between $40 and $100 for a year.

Authors Dick Thornburgh and Herbert S. Lin gathered information about the bsizeb of the online adult entertainment business as part of a book, "Youth, Pornography and the Internet." They said the industry in the U.S. generates as much as $1 billion total, including Web site advertisements, product sales and age verification services.

As many as 1,000 U.S. firms operating as "genuine business enterprises" run the ventures, the report said, with another 9,000 or so operating as affiliates of other established adult entertainment firms. The report also said a majority of
subscribers cancel after the first month.

I belive that, Adultshop.com who owns sexhit.com who is listed on the aussie stock exchange had a revenuse of US$140 million last year, something similar this year. So yeah I believe net porn brings in probably around $800 US million a year. I heard the rest of the porn industry bought in something like 4 billion a year, I guess we'll slowly break into that market and there profits will decline.
